Well i am home from Costa Rica, i had an amazing amazing time. Met incredible people obviously. Had great experiences, and am appreciating the opportunity to go alone.
It was beautiful..... I loved the volunteer work so much, i really really want to go back. I was asked to stay to become a research assistant. But couldn't, i would be in serious trouble if i didn't come home.
SO i backpacked for a month.... Saw lots of animals, beautiful views and beaches.
Then started my volunteering..... It was by far the best.... I lived in a little village, 45 minutes from the Panama border on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. With no hot water, I lived in the jungle and was woken by howler monkeys most mornings. Down a 25 meter path was the ocean. Black sand beach, covered in giant holes where leatherback sea turtles nested nightly. It was beautiful, and during the night, when we worked and patrolled for turtles, it was magical. These turtles are huge, i couldn't believe it...... And the babies, the little tortugitas, stole my heart. I miss them the most..... My family there was amazing, i will go back one day, and i don't know if i will be able to leave again.
Never in my life have i felt so liberated, and happy. The experience was everything i needed and more.
Of course, im happy to be home, but i will always consider that my home away from home....
