I'm grateful to Sonja for expressing my thoughts better than I could. I don't like to toss around words like "perfect" too much but in this case it does describe your appearance nicely. There are small, frightened people who want to hurt others, just to have a brief sense of power, and you can learn to ignore them instead of believing that they are somehow being "honest." Enduring surgery to gain the approval of people who are deliberately cruel is not only a bad bargain, but as Sonia explained, it's also impossible. They will be abusive, no matter what, just as civilized people will accept others and treat them with dignity, no matter what areas of disagreement there may be.
