Ten years ago today, I became 18 years old.
I'd be lying if I said it wasn't at least an interesting journey, back then I had self confidence. Anything was possible, I'd walk around this very town I find myself in now looking quite extreme and always drawing attention to my ridiculously large mow hawk which made getting into cars difficult, and my suit of armour, the trusty leather jacket that was proudly built with hands that didn't know any better. All that mattered was music, a girl, and art.
A lot has changed since then, for the past 7 years I've been almost hiding from the world. Blending in.
Sometimes I don't want to be noticed, "Just leave me alone."
And I was alone, I still am. But I also have people around me who love me and accept me for who I am.
Even if I often do not know myself.
I wonder if defining who we are is first accomplished by defining who we are not?
I am not that walking cliché from 10 years ago.
But maybe it doesn't even matter?
Snap out of it Birthday boy, you've got a beautiful wife who loves you, 3 crazy animals, a house and a gift that people enjoy.
And don't forget, anything is possible.

New. Also we got treasures today.

A print of my favourite place in the world, Salisbury Cathedral, just happened to stumble upon it in savers. Win!
So once upon a time, I created a silly webcomic.
It hadnt been updated in 7 years, so I did this:

I'd like to think I could update it once a week, on a steady schedule. But I'm not going to get my hopes up. For all I know it could take another 7 years for strip #22.

Hey well I am back!
I'm going to be clearing out my 'friends' list.
It seems kinda silly having so many people as friends but not talking to most of them and not even knowing who they are.
So.. before I actually get started, if you want to remain friends, make it known and it shall be.

It seems some of you who are friends with me don't even know what I do for a living, so without further a dooo.
I'm a freelance illustrator.
I draw pictures for a living, it is a job, it's not always fun.
This is why usually I roll my eyes when someone asks me to draw them a picture.
I've been working since 2003, and I'm going to paste a whole bunch of work in this here blog.
Mainly because tonight I have been going through gigs of artwork, sourcing some hi rez stuff for my agency as they're putting out the new field guide.
One of my most fun ongoing random jobs are from Official Xbox Magazine. (US Version)

These are just a few recent ones, but I started working for Xbox in I think around 2005.. So there is a LOT more.
I'm mostly known for drawing pinup girls.
Although usually its more of a hobby, and a personal means of incoming through licensing the artwork as prints, stickers, drum sticks, bottle openers etc etc.... It actually started out way back when creating the nudey Pinup girl in the back of Picture Premium magazine, an australian porn mag.
( I also, did editorial illustrations for the regular Picture magazine, which contained some pretty racey and disturbing subject matter. It was humerous at least.)

That was 7, of probably nearing 100. I have no idea how many there are now, but it has been a constant evolution. My ladies do kind of get around, I'll admit. Apart from just floating freely on the internet without a care in the world, they have ended up printed on Drum Sticks, Bottle Openers, T Shirts, Cars, Books, tattooed on loyal 'fans' or just people who liked a particular drawing and would you believe even a US Marines Commemorative coin.
I've been working for an Illustration Agency for a year and a bit now, they have been getting me jobs like this:

Yellow Pages, ANZ, Holeproof Socks, Yoplait, McCain, Virgin Australia Airlines, Players Tobacco, etc.
Storyboards, quick visuals, Vector Illustrations for flash animated web ads, Polished art for Calendars.
Tough deadlines, tough clients, good money, amazingly friendly agency.
I still get some big jobs through my own means though, like a few jobs for Hasbro:

Well it's getting late here, its crazy how long it takes to upload images on SG.
I guess I'm doing a bit of reflection tonight, If any of you actually know me, you will know that I am extremely critical and hard on myself. I am never ever happy with what I do. But sorting through it all, I can see now that I have done A LOT. Sure, there is plethora of work I don't like, but that's ok. Its the mere fact that I did something at all that makes me happy now.
What you have seen here is probably about 2% of my work, I wish I could upload everythingm it would be the biggest blog EVER. But, I'm not that crazy and it would take months.
If you got this far, thank you for getting to know me.
And if you see me in the SG chatroom, I'm probably working on something like you have seen in this blog.

EDIT:
Finished her:

Alright I suppose its time for a new blog post huh?
Sin and I have really been struggling financially since she quit her job way back last year, but things are finally getting much much better.
I've been doing some massive agency illustration work since last october.
- 26 illustrations for a major tobacco company that took 7 weeks to finish.
- Character concepts for Cluedo board game by Hasbro.
- Packaging art illustration for Cluedo, (This one came out pretty cool!)
- Official Xbox Magazine Illustrations
- Character art for Monopoly
Etc.
After being broke for so long the $ is finally starting to come through, on top of this Sin is now working full time as a manager at GAME.
Woot! We can live like normal people now!
We both got Iphones, so here is a couple of phone cam pics. Enjoy.

I photo of myself. God Forbid.

Buffy, being the usual buffy.

A blurry Sin .

Uber sexy bedtime phone cam pic. The flash blinded us for a good 5 minutes.
Work calmed down a little bit and I got the chance to get out of the studio and take a trip to Mornington to check out this new place we found. Paula's Lounge Bar.
I sat here all day and did some sketching and listened to music. I will definately be doing this again.

All the furniture is Victorian, hence why we love the place. It's all for sale too, but a little pricey.
Here is a couple of sketches I managed to do.

The last two were suggestions from the Facebook fanpage.
And this is why I love my iPhone, I dont care if I am a hipster.
I was taking pics of the sketches and uploading them on there straight away, and getting feedback and suggestions. In the bar. Which to me, is awesome.
So between jobs the yesterday Ive been sketching this out:

I'll work on it for 10 minutes and then a client email comes and diverts my attention.
It's Saturday today, I have a Hasbro and Xbox job on the go, but I think I might devote today to getting this coloured up and finished.
Sunday is Sin's day off work so we plan on going Antique shopping. The goal is to make the bedrooms and studio as awesome as our antique filled lounge room is.
I also need to find some candelabras and lamps to sit on my new Pionala that I purchased the other day.
It's 60 years old and was only $150. I don't have it yet but when it arrives I will surely be taking photos.
So apart from that news, the only other things I have been doing is trying to work on my personal projects whenever I can find the time and inspiration. I've had some characters/scenario in my head for 7 years and I really want to get into a story format.
Also, I have to start planning and making goals for convention season this year.
Im thinking a proper Artbook is in store.
As well as something sequential, most hopefully something gorgeously written by sirenwriter.
We just both need to find the time and inspiration, the planets need to align for us damnit.
Great things will come!
Alright I'm out see you in another 2 months.
