every time i have sex i get a bladder infection.

i know this, because my boyfriend lives in atlanta and we only see each other every 2 or 3 weeks. but it is inevitable. he'll leave monday morning and by tuesday i will have pain and burning during urination and trouble holding my pee when i have to go.

i'll take antibiotics and get rid of it, then i go throught the whole damn thing the next month. i have a clean bill of health. my bloodwork is fine and i don't have an issue with my actual bladder (they did a test with a sonogram to see if it was working properly).

i'm frustrated. i love sex. but i also hate having horrid pain for a week every time i have it. *snarl*

yes, perhaps this was TMI. but it's what was on my mind. so be it.

oooooh, i used to go through that. If you pee after sex, it should flush out any bacteria that may have "gotten in" durring sex. Hopefully that solves your problem. It did mine...

yes indeed pee after sex, I actually just got over one a few days ago and it was caused by sex too

But you should also pee BEFORE sex as well as after... everytime I do that I never have a problem... are you using condoms by any chance... you may be allergic to latex to some degree...

pee pee pee! drink a lot of cranberry juice too.. it always works with a UTI.. it might help with your problem too.. when you know he's coming in town start drinking the juice hehe. smooch

have you tried cranberry juice? Use it a few days before he comes and then while he is there.. It should be 100% cranberry juice. Not cranberry drink. There is a substance in cranberry juice that helps prevent the bacteria from adhereing to the bladder walls and then it can't grow.

Ok, everyone beat me to it, but I'll say it aain for emphasis: pee!!!
According to The V Book, drink plenty of fluids, including ten ounces of cranberry juice per day, practice clean sex (i.e., no fingers or penes in or on your vag after being elsewhere), and make sure you're lubed well. And pee!

so if you do not use condoms it is not an allergic reaction to latex. BUT perhaps his stuff is highly acidic while yours may be slightly basic, not enough to cancel eachother out but enough to cause irratation. have you considered a douching method for after sex? do you generally urinate right after? try a quick cool rinse after sex, just a rinse of the outside area. by the way, you could find that you are getting REM sleep while zoning out throughout the day or perhaps 5% is all your body seems to need.

Just a word of advice....careful with your birth control pills because antibiotics make them less effective.

You can also take cranberry extract supplements...I've seen them at the health food store. I've heard that they work well for people who don't like the taste of cranberry juice.
