I am really getting tired of the repetitive 'get a new photographer and try again, your sets suck'... as though I hadn't found new photographers and shot 6 new sets just this past weekend.

I also love it when people tell me to get in the photoghopefuls group and post.. which I have.. and go through the 54 pages or whatever of photog introductions on there to find someone close to me (which I spent 4 hours doing, just today before all these comments..)

How about someone give me some real suggestions, not the same ones over and over that I've already tried?

I feel like I'm in a wasteland, SG-wise. The summer of 2014 cannot come soon enough.. At least then I'll have the option to move...

on another note.. a discussion began elsewhere with someone, and I don't agree and I won't name names but...

Do you guys feel like SG is all about competition? Like, you have to be better than everyone else, and stuff? At least as models.. I always thought this site was about free expression and being YOURSELF even if some others might not see 'yourself' as 'better' than someone else...? At what point did all of this become a competition where you have to win or beat someone or everyone else? Isn't being yourself enough? :/ If it's all about being better than others.. how do you know if you are better as you? Wouldn't you need to fake it at some point to try and get a leg up? I don't even know.. I think of showing 'love' on other girls sets as Karma.. if I like this set, now... then she will 'love' maybe not my current sets, but those in the future, either on purpose or by accident.. Karma, ya know?

Am I wrong?

You are right. I think so many have actually lost sight of what Suicide Girls is, it's a place to come to be accepted because of who you are, not because of what others think of you. No-one on this site, no matter how pretty or popular is better than anyone else here. I think some should be reminded of that.

I looked at your sets again before commenting, so I can say without question that your sets DO NOT SUCK. They are both possessed of a great sense of fun and a joyful attitude, like a little girl playing dress-up, or undress-up as the case may be.

I do see SG attitude in these pictures. You have just the right amount of sass. It could take you a long way. Hang in there.

Thanks.

I realized these sets probably weren't going to be what 'did it' for me when I put them up, but I was hoping they would get me started (which they have) and open doors to further resources (yep, sure did), and even more and better photographers (...yup. check, once again).

These are the starting point. The next sets should be waaaaay better on clarity, color, and lighting-- though whether they're good enough for the front page, I'm not sure. We will have to see. Keep in mind, everyone.. I live somewhere where there really aren't any staff photographers all that close. I'm trying to connect with photographers that have shot sets that were purchased, and I think I was able to hook one, just today.. ( biggrin <3 ) but up to this point, what you've seen and what I've shot thus far that you haven't seen quite yet, all by photographers that have never been involved with SG and never even looked into it. They are operating on what I tell them, what I describe, and a few examples.

Maybe it is a competition... I see it more as a competition for time. The really truly exceptional photographers that know exactly how to shoot a successful set are suuuuuuuper busy!

Sets are difficult... The one set I've shoot was was referred to as too "dark" of course it was off of a Clockwork orange, so I thought it had to be. I'll probably shoot another set when May comes around though.

Also, I can't wait to shoot with ya. Trying to wrangle up studio times and such.

The conversation I mentioned about competition and attacks and misunderstandings and all that stuff..? Totally happened in the hopefuls group. If that isn't the most disappointing part, imagine getting private messages on the subject too-- accusations and attacks.

I think there needs to be a group for new members and hopefuls that has weekly short-posts discussing rules and how the site works.. everything from 'click on mysg and then select what you want to see down the right' to 'make sure you comment AND hit 'loved it' for sets you want to make it to FP, just clicking 'loved it' won't do it!'. There is so much to learn right at first, it isn't realistic for newbs to get it, all of it, all at once. Step by step explanations and conversations to educate and enlighten... or does this already exist and no one bothered to tell me?

anyway...

I just started getting raw files today for one of the sets this weekend.. I'm hoping to get a couple of photos uploaded tomorrow. I would say, wait to give me advice until I post those up, because they'll be more applicable. smile I do appreciate the advice.. I do! Absolutely. It's all about love, guys. <3

I <3 ya'all... wink

You shouldn't shoot 6 set for SG in a weekend. You should shoot 1 set, put it in member review and then get feedback on it. That way you can improve on the next set. If you just shoot a ton of sets the same day, you and your photographer aren't going to know where you can improve. Also, you should space your sets out,(when submitting to MR) they say 2 months apart.

I do think it has become a competition & a popularity contest. I've only been a member for a year, but even looking at past sets I sense a totally different vibe from then to now. I hardly see any girls who showcase the 'Look' that SG was originally about. Now it's always the same old boring bed set, boring lingerie, boring plain hair, boring look.... boring everything! Whenever there's a set in MR with a girl who is a little more original, more exciting, more creative, it seems it doesn't do nearly as well as the boring girls. Plus the most popular sets are shot by staff photogs. This is nice and all for girls who actually live near photogs, but what about those who aren't so lucky? I also see SGs who seem to be a little more popular within the community get a set on FP within a week of being in MR, when hopefuls with WAY better, more creative sets sit in MR for months- even years-without ever being bought. Bullshit!

I can definitely see where your frustration is coming from. It's things like this that will probably be the reason I will never shoot a set.

I think you have a great look, and you are incredibly sexy. You're sets are amazing, they just get overlooked because the photography isn't infuckingcredible. Everyone expects way too much, I guess. You remind me of an old school SG, and I believe if you had been able to submit a set years ago you would have been made Pink fast as fuck! It's a fucking shame...
