Hell of a snow storm today. The snow is about 4 inches deeper than the clearance of the Metro. Looks like I'm stuck at home.
I really hate romantic comedies. Don't get me wrong, I like the comedy part. They're usually pretty funny. But the cliched happy ending romantic bullshit just serves to remind me of how lonely I am.

I just thought of a good apocalypse. What if the switching of the earth's magnetic field does something that wipes the content of all magnetic storage devices on the planet. That includes tapes and floppy disks. The trinkets on your USB drives and those few who have made the transition to SSDs in desktops or laptops would be spared. The computers work, but there's no software past the BIOS. Exabytes of data, gone. Quite literally, taking the collective consciousness out of the big hardware brain that powers the digital age.
Man I have been slacking on here. The URL got blocked at work, and I don't spend much time on the internet at home anymore. After spending 6 hours a day wasting time at work on the internet (yes my job really is that easy) I don't feel like logging back on at night. Thinking about going to the Jon Stewart rally in Washington DC on 10-30.

I've begun daily driving Rex to work. She now has 36 miles on the clock. I'm gonna have to remember to go easy on her at first. The first 1k miles or so is the critical break-in stage. How you treat them in the beginning can dramatically change the overall power and reliability. I've done more research into breaking procedures and it's possible that my break-in after the first rebuild directly affected the cause of the failure. The first time I let it idle for about an hour at the very beginning. However, sitting at the same RPMs for too long can induce vibrations. The previous engine blew due to seal chatter on the housings (think washboarding, but inside the engine
). The extended idle may have set the initial point that started the 'washboarding'. I'm pretty impressed that it lasted 60k miles though, considering I just threw it together in my dad's garage.
Here's to the hopeful beginning of another 60k miles.
