I think I've decided where I'd like to go on my company provided trip:

That's right. wink I will post many a picture and video too. I am going to commit so many social faux pas (on purpose).

Oh, and for anyone in the area we're having a party next week and you're invited. PM me for details.

Love you all!

Good news, everyone!

My employers are paying for a plane flight for me to go anywhere I want in the world. It's pretty flattering that they think that I do a good enough job to warrant that. Also, they're letting both Rivet and I go at the same time. The only catch? We've got to do it in March. I don't mind that condition though... I want off this island now!

But where to go...? I know I want to go somewhere in Europe or Asia though.

Oh yeah, I changed my hair up a little. It's got a nice deep red dyed under my bangs (or 'fringe' for you Aussies and Brits).

I had an awesome time this weekend; I hung out with friends in a local pub. Everyone at that particular pub was at least 15 years older than the oldest person that we had with us (and he's 36), so they didn't take too well to us being there. The server was happy to have at least one non grumpy table though. biggrin

And I have a tattoo appointment booked for February 12th. I'm getting a quote from Lolita across my ribs ("My sin, my soul"). Happy Valentine's Day to me!

FUN FACT: I have never spent a Valentine's Day doing anything other than crying or eating!

I've been reading Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted and have been working on illustrations. Other than that? I need a haircut but I'm having a pretty good boob day today.

Edit: I've deleted 600 of my 900 friends on here. I want to be actually able to see the journals of people I care about. Sorry if I've deleted you by mistake.

Tomorrow will be lovely. Massage, comics, shopping. Girl stuff. Cheese.

Today was a strange day. I (sort of) went out on the first date of my adult life (given that the last one I went on was when I was 16). The whole thing was a nice affair and he was a nice fellow, but it just really reminded me that I'm not too keen on dating to begin with. Turned out that he was a dork too though; he works at the museum downtown and he loves comic books so made it bearable.

Funny enough, I think the fact that I asked to split the bill made it not a date in his eyes. After I paid my portion he kind of just stepped away from me, said good night and ran to his car. So what do you think, gentlemen? Does my asking to pay for my own food not make it a date? Did I commit a faux paux without meaning to?

Am I just supposed to look at the bill on the table and wait until he asks or takes care of it? I'm pretty confused.

Here's a list of things that have made me happy lately:
- BBC's Sherlock
- Invincible Iron Man #33
- Fable III
- Fantasizing about new body art (sooooooon...)
- Cheese
- Novels such as Darkly Dreaming Dexter
- Loud music
- Having five great friends that are also roommates
- 2 Litre bottles of Coke and beer and pizza

As a general rule, when I feel like shit I make myself stay away from the internet. Hence my lack of posting lately. Sorry!

EDIT - I'm slow as a snail with responding to all of my messages, but I'm trying to keep up. smile

I have made a decision, my friends. It is simple: drinking hurts really bad the next day and I don't like it.

Drinking is

Now that I have that unpleasantly out of the way I'd like to say thank you for all of the love on my newest set, Temptation.

I hope it makes you wanna say

I find it quite amusing that all of my sets have sat in the 93% to 95% range!

I also want to thank my lovely roommate/best friend/photographer for not only snapping the pictures but for styling my hair and doing my makeup too. Love you, Rivet. blush

^ That's the lovely woman I live with. And here's the sexy girl that lives downstairs, Namira...

Aside from the raging hangover I'm a lucky girl. Happy motherfucking New Year's, motherfuckers.

Ding, ding! Round three!

My new set Temptation goes up New Year's Eve @ 4PM!

I'll post something cooler later. Between Fable III and snack food I've been too busy to blog. wink

"She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock.
She was Lola in slacks.
She was Dolly at school.
She was Dolores on the dotted line.
But in my arms she was always Lolita.

Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins.
My sin, my soul."

I don't know if I'm proud of it but Lolita is one of, if not, my favourite book and film. I don't know if I'll ever be able to put into coherent words what I feel about it but I've loved it ever since I was 16 years old.

It's a demented one sided love story. It's a tragedy of the times and expresses generation gap and generation despair. It's got no morals; it's like life. It just is what it is.

But one of the aspects that I enjoy most about it is that everyone interprets it differently. Personally, I think it's about a distraught, emotionally devastated man and a corrupt, yet experienced, young girl. Mentally he's stuck in childhood and she's already somewhat matured. They meet in the middle only to clash violently. Also interesting is the angle that she appears to be damaged due to how steeped she is in popular culture.

This work is so crammed with food for thought that I don't even know where to begin. The repugnance of women's supposed 'beauty' routines, the rejection of hollywood glamour, the use of pornography and the exploitation of children, the clever use of character foils, and the obvious questions on the age of consent versus the age of maturity.

If you haven't seen or read it, I highly recommend Adrian Lyne's Lolita (1997). I think it's a near perfect adaption. Lolita is supposed to be a boorish, sloppy, and otherwise unattractive girl to the average person... however, she's intelligent, cunning, and has an oddly attractive spunk that Swain captures wonderfully. Humber's supposed to be somewhat handsome (if not with a very apparent lack of self-confidence) and Irons is wonderfully convincing.

I've watched the film twice this week and each time it brings tears to my eyes.

"What I heard then was the melody of children at play. Nothing but that. And I knew that the hopelessly poignant thing was not Lolita's absence from my side, but the absence of her voice from that chorus. "

It's getting cold again... who's gonna keep me warm? blush

My newest set entitled "Temptation" is coming out on New Year's Eve @ 4PM. It's been in the queue for a little while now but I forgot to mention it! Photographed again by my lovely roommate, Rivet.

I'm happily awaiting more snow which is supposed to occur on Monday. But this weekend I'm headed to a spa party hosted by Granville Island Brewing & Peller Estate Winery. Free massages? You betcha! Though the last time I got a massage the lady was a little bit freaked out by all of my snake tattoos... confused

Oh, and can anyone recommend any good apps for the iPod Touch? Other than my Mac laptop, this is my first real apple on-the-go kind of product and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

Overall, would you say that you've been naughty or nice this year? Your answer gets mine. wink
