So apparently autumn is nearly here and I haven't updated in a while.

I'd say there's not much going on, but there's plenty. It's just not much to report back on. School starting for my older daughter, toddler playgroup for the younger. I'm volunteering at a hospital and will finally go back to karate after about five years away. The first few classes are going to be brutal.

It's just life, you know? Mostly good, some bad, but on it goes.

Summer is in full swing! Yay!

I just got back from 11 days of vacation and am still in denial. I need a job that feels like a vacation.

Thanks for the well-wishes! It's been a painfult few days, but I'm almost better. I learned that codeine really doesn't agree with me. My mother was a fantastic help. My husband has been great. Even my kids have been good about it.

I'm conducting another food experiment at the moment. Let's see if I can handle bacon and eggs, hmm?

I'm having my gallbladder removed tomorrow morning. Fun!

I'm supposed to make a pizza for my husband for dinner on Sunday. We'll see if that happens.

Saturday (aka Rapture Day v 1.0) I was making pie and I enlisted my husband to cut up the apples. One apple had no seeds, and another one had seeds that were growing. I was kind of expecting the rapture after that!

I finally got my mermaid tattoo. It's not finished yet, so I'm waiting until it's done to post photos. Yay tattoo! The guy said I was tough as nails, but I bet he says that to all the girls.

It's driving me nuts that no one is calling out "birthers" for being the racist assholes they are. I just can't believe that the same questions would be asked of a white man. Also, who the fuck cares where he was born, especially if he's lived in the country his whole life?

I can't wait for the Canadian election to be over. I don't think there's going to be a significant change in the distribution of seats. Some rearrangement, some growth or reduction, but until we get a party leader that actually inspires people, we're going to muddle along in this middle place and have elections every two years. Why can't they just cooperate and come to a mutually agreed upon consensus? You know, like adults? Like the rest of us have to in our day-to-day lives?

Life goes on. I'm making sure to pay extra attention to the other three cats. I keep expecting to see Digby come out from under the couch or something, but the way he was when he was healthy. He was so frail at the end.

Going to see Green Hornet tomorrow with a friend. Yay!
