It seems like every time I fix something in my house something new breaks. I'm going out of my way to learn how to be as handy at fixing everything as possible just because I'm tired of having to wait on people to come in and out of my house to accomplish very minor jobs that I should know how to do myself.
Being handy around our homes is a lost art. And that's a damn shame.
You know on my own in two hours i accomplished what someone wanted to charge me over 500$ for in painting my own home? PAINTING. It's shocking how much people try to overcharge homeowners for simple things.

I'll be attending a reopening of a local club here in Orange County tonight... since it was closed for Halloween it's their Halloween night.
Having worked (or rather I was supposed to, I got very sick and had to come home), halloween I had no costume so I decided with my boy that together we would do a totally hilarious couple costume bit. Somehow this turned into us agreeing to be Skeletor and Beastman. Why? Because the thought of trying to make Beastman sexy and still somewhat recognizable was hilarious to me... and because I've really enjoyed putting together some horribly offensive to the senses costumes lately.
I haven't even seen my dear boy's costume but I went for a Ziggy Stardust inspired Beastman personally. And I'll be doing both of our make up. I did a preliminary make up/costume test a while back for my beastman and was very pleased with it and in the next few hours it will really come together and I will be sure to post more photos... but without any alterations and just playing with the make up this is what I came up with.

As a kid my mom used to take my to the local haunt attraction in San Diego, the Haunted Hotel...
Here's me about 10 years ago with one of the outside monsters... this attraction was the sole reason I'm as involved and fascinated with the haunt and horror scene as I am these days. And this year I got a job working it. So I packed up some of my haunt gear and have moved down to San Diego for most of the month.
So I've been a little distracted with some terrible allergies that have been preventing me from scaring properly... and pushing my body tot he limits to try to do it anyways.
I'm on bed rest for a week because of the allergies (oddly enough they were too my allergy meds) and will be back in the Haunted Hotel scaring up some memories for a new batch of children next week. I highly recommend the haunt to anyone in the area. The entire cast is incredibly enthusiastic and talented.

A couple more photos of my improvised zombie outfit. I managed to completely ruin one of the only 'NOT BLACK" outfits in my closet. Oh well!
So ... I wasn't planning on dressing up today for club night... but I got bored and had extra time....
Unfortunately I don't have any proper SFX make up in the house. I had my mime base for the Joker costume and an old bruise wheel... no latex or blood... and I haven't done SFX make up in... um..... 7 or more years now? (Other than the cosplay stuff)
This is what I came up with. Using mostly a bruise wheel and regular cosmetics. I'm taking this moment to say I'm a little bit proud of this. It's not perfect and it's sort of.... cliche feeling... but in the dark it looks terrifying.
Been SO busy lately. I thought the summer convention season was busy... and then the fall season began. (more or less).

So... that happened. I think I'm going to keep this cosplay: I enjoy it. I want to spend more time on the floor with it next time.
Looking at my check list for comic con is pretty hysterical.
Riding crops, eye liner, leather gloves and tuxedo are at the top of my list. I'll be The Joker at least once and Alice Cooper at least twice and will be lurking around the Hollywood Book and Poster booth! (come visit me and I'll let you squeeze my boobs... seriously... If you're a woman I collect lip prints on them)
After hours I'll be lurking over at the Haunted Hotel on 4th and Market (next to Hooters). Come join me for a jaunt through the place that inspired me to love everything I do since I was a child!
