Hold on folks....this is gonna be lengthy.
I hope that everyone had a very happy Memorial Day weekend! Although, I'm sure it didn't rock as hard as mine. HAHAHA! (more on that in second)
I'm going to start out by saying that *bass player* and I are done! I'm torn about it. Part of me is really sad and hurt, because I did like him a lot. However, I have a feeling that he and I will probably stay good friends.
I still plan on catching his show in Kansas City, MO and probably the one in Athens, GA too.
Okay...the weekend......
Friday night - Made it a mellow evening. Picked up some beers that I had never tried before and headed to a friend's house. We had a beer tasting, watched a Fraiser marathon, pulled out sofa-bed and put on Texas Chainsaw Massacre (which I had never seen before). Didn't finish the movie, fell asleep. Very fun, very mellow night.
Saturday - Drove my new car up to Knoxville to catch The Dexateens show at Barley's. They played with Those Darlins and The Features. The plan was to drive up, catch the show and drive back to Tuscaloosa that night. As I started talking to some of the guys in the band, I was informed that they were playing in Nashville the next night and it was the last show on the tour. I mentioned that it would probably be a fun show to see. Next thing you know they told me that they club hooked 'em up with 3 hotel suites and I should stay the night and drive to Nashville the next day and hang out and see the show. Well.....it wasn't like I had to work on Monday or anything.....AWESOME for the rest of the evening. I didn't really know any of the guys in the band that well. I'd met the bass player once or twice and I kind of know the drummer, but not very well. We stayed up laughing and smoking and taking photos and watching silly YouTube videos.
Sunday - Nashville! I love Nashville so much. The band had some promo stuff to do and meet up with their lawyers so we split for a while and I had fun shopping and driving around Nashville.
I was hanging out at the bar where they were playing and this guy walks up with this little redhead woman. I recognized him immed. because he's one of those cats that just looks - well it's his own look-
I'm outside the bar chatting with friends and chainsmoking and I keep noticing that this guy keeps checking me out. I never went over and talked to him (which I don't ever have a problem with - if someone is looking at me and I think they are cute - I'm on it in a heartbeat) because he was with some bros and that redhead. - Oh, I guess I could mention that the guy I'm talking about is "Little" Jack Lawrence who plays in The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. - Kind of flattering, kind of creepy, kind of an ego boost. I guess he must have a thing for redheads
The show was AMAZING! Might have been the best Dexateens show that I have ever seen. Loud, Wild, Pure Rock N Roll! I danced, I sang, I broke beer glasses! I have a HUGE crush on The Dexateens now!
Drove Back that night. I got home around 5am.
Monday- Slept, Slept, Slept. Bar, Bar, Slept. Had another mellow evening with Friday night's friend. More sofa-bed and TV. *As much as I love going out and living like a rockstar, I think I might be able to get used to this mellow stuff - I like TV, I like sofa-beds, and I think I'm starting to like the company*
Playlist:
Dow Low - The Dexateens
*My bar, my second home makes a cameo in this video*

Wow! Heartbreak sucks!
I haven't been outta bed since Saturday night. I tried going to work on Monday morning, but I was a mess and I couldn't keep it together so I came home at lunch. Back to bed. I called in sick to work today. More bed rest.
I'm much better now. I did have a talk with *bass player* earlier today. It seems he didn't even realize that he hurt my feelings or he even knew what was going on. He assured me that it wasn't me. I didn't do or say anything wrong. He said that he's been closed in lately and that he hasn't been talking to anyone.
It's good to know that we can still be friends and that this entire thing was just all in my head.
I feel silly for getting emotional over a guy. That's not my style. This whole falling in love thing is weird.
He is the first guy in five years that I have allowed myself to have -more than friends- feelings towards and allowed myself to open up with him. Love is one crazy thing, kids.
So, while I'm still an emotion-ball I'm better. I'm going to work tomorrow. Maybe even pull in some overtime too.
I'm backing off for a week or so with the *bass player*. I'm gonna give him time and space. I'll probably see him once before he leaves again for the eastcoast leg of the tour. Also, I still plan on going to Kansas City, Mo. to catch his show (that's kind of already a done-deal since airline tix have already been purchased anyway). However for the next week or two, I just need to focus on ME.
I think I am buying a new car. I'll probably take delivery on it at the end of this week or early next week. I kind of hope that it will be the end of this week. This weekend is The Dexateen's show in Knoxville and it would be nice to see how the new ride does on a road trip.
Tonight I'm super stoked for: Dan Sartain! Hellz Yeah!
Flight of the Finch - Dan Sartain
Speaking of music......there are now several bands that I can't listen to at the moment because *bass player* is either in the band, has been on tour and played with them, or is related to them, or just best bros.
I hope that in a few weeks I'll be back to listening to all these cats.
Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band, Bright Eyes, A.A. Bondy, Maria Taylor, Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley and The Felice Brothers.
*hahaha all of these cats are on my top 100 played on iTunes*
So....that being said........I NEED some new tunes to vibe with.........SUGGESTIONS?
Today's Soundtrack:
*There is no theme, rhyme or reason to this playlist and it jumps all over the place*
Sheets - Damien Jurado
Closer - Kings of Leon
*I'm dying to see Kings of Leon live* I saw them several years ago, but I wasn't really into them at the time. What a Mistake. This is my favorite song from the latest album.
Stranded in this spooky town. Stop lights are swaying and the phone lines are down. Floor is crackling cold. She took my heart, I think she took my soul.
Dark End of The Street - Cat Power
If I could sing like anybody in the world I would want to sing like this woman (okay, this woman and maybe Etta James)
Shimmer & Shine - Ben Harper and Relentless7
Wonderlust King - Gogol Bordello
Just because Gogol Bordello always makes me happy.

I'm heartbroken! I feel really sick. I'm not getting out of bed for a week.
I woke up and tried listening to my ipod, but it was on shuffle and his band's songs came up. UGH
It really sucks because I loved his band and it was one of my favorites before I even knew who this *bass player* was.
I am not sure I can ever listen to that band again. UGH.

I'm alive folks, really I am. I've just been uber busy lately. Got back into the groove of my rockstar lifestyle. Haven't been at home for almost two weeks straight...and when I have been home, it has only been to vomit or change clothes.
In the past two weeks I have:
*been drunk almost every night
*have been to two cd release parties
*saw several rad bands
*drank mimosa
*have been to three birthday parties
*have a had a cocktail in a real glass, not a dixie cup like I am so used to at my favorite sleazy dive bars
*ate fish tacos
*had an amazing date
*has seen *bass player* several times
*danced and got nerdy at an mc chris show
*joined a bowling league - team capt'n baby! FUCK YEAH!
*bought the new Dexateens album and the Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band album.
a lot of other stuff happened too, but *bass player* is coming into town tonight. I MUST clean my apartment, and not dick around on the internet all day. I promise that I will ready everyone's journal and comment as soon as I get things under control and dust free.
Playlist:
Me & The Skirts - The Features
*This band opened up for The Dexateens. I thought they were super cool and super fun*
Pine Belt Blues - The Dexateens
Cartoons and Forever Plans - Maria Taylor
When the President Talks to God - Bright Eyes
Single Ladies - McCarthy Trenching
*This is a cover of Beyonce's song. I met Dan McCarthy about a month ago...I think he's just super awesome*
6'1" - Liz Phair

What the hell is wrong with me?
Since I have been back from Denver I've been a total hermit. It's been what...almost 2 weeks since I've been back...and I've only been out once. I've attempted to go out last weekend...I managed to catch a little bit of a band, but decided that I'd rather be home in bed. WTF? That is so not like me.
I think I just want to make it through this week. I think I'm trying to just work, sleep, work, sleep in hopes that next week will arrive much more quickly.
Next week..............what a big week in my world.
Monday.....Cursive with openers Man Man. FUCK YEAH! I missed out on the whole mid-to late 90s and early 2000s rock thing when I was younger. I understand that Cursive and Tim Kasher were pretty influential on a lot of my friends. Plus, I am a huge fangirl of Saddle Creek.
Tuesday....*bass players* comes back into town!!! The Felice Brother show in Birmingham! FUCK YEAH! Tuesday is going to be awesome. The day I've been most looking forward to for the past two weeks.
Weds....... TBD
Thurs........Baby Shower for a girl at work (blah) MY BIRTHDAY! FUCK FUCK YEAH!
Friday.......Dark Knights of Camelot in Hattiesburg, The Felice Brothers in Knoxville
Hmmmmm. Big decision
Sat............Dexateens at Mellow Mushroom.....going to Atlanta! Woop Woop!
Sun..........Atlanta and Rollercoasters!
