This Vince Lombardi quote...

...could be used in regards to the US economy at the moment.

Does anyone remember the group Default?
I've had this song stuck in my head today for some reason.

Oh, and this one too.

Don Henley - The End of the Innocence

I've always loved this song. I thought it was so fitting for the time when it first came out, and I think it is now as well. I guess some songs are just timeless.

Remember when the days were long
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Didn't have a care in the world
With mommy and daddy standing by
When "happily ever after" fails
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers dwell on small details
Since daddy had to fly
But I know a place where we can go
That's still untouched by man
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass waveS in the wind
You can lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
O' beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie
But I know a place where we can go
And wash away this sin
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass waveS in the wind
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair spill all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
Who knows how long this will last
Now we've come so far, so fast
But, somewhere back there in the dust
That same small town in each of us
I need to remember this
So baby give me just one kiss
And let me take a long last look
Before we say good bye
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence

Tonight, something made me think of a movie that I saw on television when I was a kid. It was one of those movies that made a strong impression on me, and I never forgot it. The movie that I'm referring to is The Bermuda Depths. I guess you could call it a horror movie, but it's really more of a supernatural love story. The music is kinda corny, the special effects are laughable but the storyline is haunting. I found this movie on YouTube (it's not out on DVD), and I loved reading the comments that people left about it.

Here's part 1 of 9:

There are a few familiar names in this one. You have Connie Sellecca, Carl Weathers and Burl Ives.

If you'll just watch part one (and get through the cheesey intro), you'll wanna see the rest (I think).

This could ruin one's day.

We're getting some interesting weather here today. There's some kind of a system moving onshore. We're getting very high winds here in Raleigh, and rain will be following soon. I think I'm gonna take a nap later today and let the wind and rain lull me to sleep. smile

I know this is an old LOL Cat pic, but it still makes me smile:

It's time to bask in some 1970's mellowness.

Seals & Crofts - "We May Never Pass This Way (Again)"

This song takes me back to my childhood. My Mom used to play this a lot.

Fall is definitely on its way now. It's starting to feel like football weather. Speaking of football, there's a high school near where I live. On certain Friday nights, I can stand outside and hear the crowds cheering and the band playing during their games. It brings back good memories. My Dad used to officiate area high school football games when I was a kid, and I would go with him to many of those.

Those were good times. Those were simpler times.
