I'm an animal.

Why is the cute girl I went on a date with on Saturday night have a boyfriend? And why is she going on dates with me. So confusing. The interesting ones always are.

I've been drinking, circusing, pokering, carousing, dancing, sweating, betting, vetting. It's a lot.

Soon I hope to the writing, biting, fighting, djing, swaying, and howling at the moon.

If you're a friend of mine I haven't seen in awhile.. I probably miss you. It's true.

Since no one's interested (ok there were a few) in exciting things like whitewater rafting or Leonard Cohen concerts instead I'm going to present you with a boring spoilered laundry list of personal goals.

Enjoy.

Whitewater rafting is awesome.

We hit the Red River about 1.25 hours northwest of Montreal and it was intense. The water was high - 130 cubic metres a second passing through any given spot in the river. 4 trips down the river - only came out of the boat once .. in the dreaded Washing Machine.

This is a class 4+ rapid (the scale is out of 5) that's basically a tornado of waves after a big drop.. to give you an idea usually over half of the rafts bail on this rapid.. it's a motherfucker.. and if you don't swim to the side fast enough when you bail you hit the next rapid .. the Rock Garden. Ouch. Fortunately the time we did fly out on the Washing Machine after feeling like I nearly drowned and getting run over by a rescue raft, I never hit the Rock Garden.

By the 4 time down though we felt like pros and were pulling cute girls (and guys too) out of the rapids that had bailed. All in all - pretty awesome. I feel like hitting a different run sometime soon.

I'm your man...

If anyone was doing anything better than seeing an over 3 hour Leonard Cohen concert this evening like I was, then the next time I see you I'll by you a drink.

Holy fuck.

Ok, enough bitching and moaning about romance.

This is shaping up to be a pretty sweet week - tomorrow is St. Jean Baptiste - the ultimate Quebec party day so I'll be hitting up a boozy soiree somewhere for sure.

Wednesday I get to see one of my personal heroes in concert - the almighty Leonard Cohen, so I'm super excited about that.

Thursday I get to runaway and get a short (but heavily needed) mini-vacation - I'll be heading out of Montreal with some friends to brave intense class 4 and 5 whitewater rapids. 2 days rafting and 2 days camping will give me a break I really need right now as my patience with my job grows thinner by the day.

I think next journal I'm going to post my 101 Things in 1001 days list - a list of goals/activities both big and small I want to accomplish.

Now I'm going to get a smoothie and hit my book - Brion Gysin's the Process, which is entertaining, arabesque and orientalist in all the best ways. I loved Belano's the Savage Detectives, but it's nice to pick up something with a bit more of a plot.

Note to self: Avoid artsy neurotic francophone girls. They are romantic trouble.

Addendum to note: Why is this so freaking hard?

Footnote to addendum: Why does it seem that once you've dated someone in a group of friends all the friends start hitting on you after you've broken up?

Resolution to footnote : Maybe I need to get out of town for awhile.

PS. How do friends of mine who are archived have new sets going up all of a sudden? Who do they think they are- Tupac?

It's lovely.

I feel lonely.

Like the girl who's in love with the boy who doesn't return her calls.

I was cleaning my room the other day when I discovered a mysterious pair of panties. As panties go, they're quite cute - a dark purple with multicoloured polka dots.

So far I have been unable to determine the strange source of the spontaneous pantybustion, except that being the lovely image that they are, I may have popped them into existence through a manifestation of my potent subconscious. Another possibility is that a beautiful ninja succubus slipped through my window at night and left them as a momento of our Morpheus twist or merely as a wyrd fairy token to aid my slumber.

Now all I'm left to do is to think of 101 surreal / hilarious ways to dispose of a pair of panties.

Sometimes I feel like the Littlest Hobo..

Saw M.I.A. Tuesday night, show was pretty good, but the sound wasn't great. Distortion and too much reverb. I want to go to her aunt's bakery in Montreal.

The Raconteurs the next night were super tight, plus the Sadies who opened were terrific as always. I interviewed the Good Brothers (younger) on my radio show what feels like aeons ago. The sound was faaaaantastic .. they're really tight and amazing live. Highly recommended.

I've been working overtime, and doing a lot of future planning. I'm really tired. Looking forward to the weekend.
