Hmmm. Where shall I start?
Well I've been being talked about a lot recently (not necessarily in a bad way) Rumours about me going around (not all of which untrue)
a) That I told Amy Goodman (host of the internatioanally syndicated radio show Democracy Now!) that she had nice pants while I was in Winnipeg.
b) That I chose a route from Winnipeg that took 4 hours longer than the route we took to get there.
c) That I'm dating my friend Lydia.
On those charges I plead - a) Guilty. (she DID have nice pants, and I thought it nice to say so) b) Kind of Guilty. I did suggest the route, but we all decided. c) Innocent. We are merely platonic friends that hang out a lot.
Otherwise as those of you who read my last post may have realized I've finished my book "Temple of the Golden Pavilion" by Yukio Mishima so I thought I'd share a piece of it with you that I especially enjoyed.
In other news I say the band "Elephant Island" play last night and they were really good. Half of the band is moving into the basement suite of the house I live in, so I'm glad I like the music.
I scored some really cool free photo books from a friend of a friend of my friend Lydia. We went to a tame dessert party tonight where everyone was speaking Cantonese, so I ate some pie, cake, chips + dip and largely watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off. We also watched some of the American's 4 of July celebrations.. which we found.. interesting.. in the Chinese sense.
Yesterday I also had an *encounter* with a SuicideGirl. I was walking along the campus and I saw someone.. who I was pretty sure was on the site, but not entirely sure. I've since established the fact that YES it was in fact LuluMae.. who seems glad that this was the reason and nothing was stuck in her teeth.
I picked up a few new cds.. a Serge Gainsbourg tribute off of Zorn's Tzadik label and Don Cherry's Mu. Brilliant stuff. The record store called to tell me that the Crazy Horse album I ordered just came in as well.
My next week is going to be Crazy busy. Something every night and working every day. Yikes!
Soon the guy who's made some moves towards me on friendster will be in town and taking me out for a beer. Nice.
Also a cute girl who I'm kinda getting to know who lives in my area. I ran into her on the bus today (she's a trombonist) and we had a nice chat. She smelled like soap. Soap never smelled so good. We were chatting (her about her arranging course, so I pulled out the Jack Nitzsche cd I had and started coversing on his arranging career) and the person in the seat ahead of us turned around a took a quick look. Lo and behold! It was Aurelia who was a good friend of this girl I was dating/trying to date. (don't really know how to put it) So she said she was just interested because people were saying intelligent things about music. Which was nice. I don't know if she recognized me.
Otherwise not too much new. My new class on Nazi propagandha is starting on Mon. which is exciting and my social calender remains extremely booked in the foreseeable future! Yay!
Oooh. This is getting long. Remember keep sending me your requests for things to play on my show Mon. night. You can listen via the web. I also met myfriend's (the station's former music director) boyfriend who lives in LA on this site. What a trip.

Zinn is the better writer, but it can be argued that Chomsky has a more salient analysis.
