I never saw the point of solstices... I mean, yeah, there's equal night and day that day... So?
HOWEVER, I could see the point of people celebrating tonight-- the first night of the year that you leave work and it's light on the way home. THAT is something worth celebrating! It's SPRING, baby!!
Funny how I've been irredeemably mopey for a couple of weeks, but literally 5 minutes of clear skies was enough to really pep me up. I think I might have been suffering from SAD again and not noticed.
A week in the sun in Mexico should see me right-- 70F (20C) and clear skies? Sure thing, Batman!
