Overheard at work: "I need you to help me come up with solutions to take this guy's money."

Wow it's been a while.

I guess I'll make this one short and sweet. For the first time ever Catnip and I are finally living on our own. No longer living with parents, no longer living with roommates. We're on our own! Sure that means we're fucked financially, but it's so nice to have a place to call our own. All of our things, all of our rules, and no one else's bullshit to put up with.

So things are on the up and up. I'll try not to be a stranger.

If someone says "not to toot my own horn" at the start of a sentence they're about to toot the fuck out of that horn.

So I found out today that my dad is literally inventing things. He's inventing a method of making a machine work better, more efficiently, and with better results for a cheaper cost. That's a big deal, it means their machines will be cheaper to manufacture, which means they can sell them at a lower cost and have a higher profit margin. It's not just for the business though, it's a machine he uses on a regular basis. That means he took a look at it and thought "How can I make this better?" Put that plan into action and is making something of it.

Every guy thinks "How can I live up to my father?" and mine just set the bar pretty damn high. I now have to compete with a man who is inventing things. It's not even something he was told to do. There was no manager saying "make this better!" It was just him and his idea.

Man, I have a lot to live up to!
