I have spent very little time with my boyfriend's brother. I have to admit, I'm sort of in awe of the guy, as he and Nick have the sort of relationship that exists nowhere else in the real world (or at least in my head). They are more best friends than brothers, a fact that not only is reinforced every time he comes around, but is also completely contrary to my personal experiences. Siblings =/= friends. Siblings REALLY =/= best friends evar. And yet, there it is.

So I want you to understand, quite fully, how cool I felt when I came up with this image:

It is based off of one of the phrases the other Heretic likes to yell at parties - Jack Russel Terrorist, obviously. How awesome I felt when Nick sent it to his brother, only to be told that it was awesome, and that it's now the other Heretic's Myspace picture.

I truly feel as though I've finally become worthy to be around this guy.

In other news, my brother is officially in the real world, of some sort, and here's the latest photo of me.

Can you tell that we're not bestest pals? *sigh* I don't know, maybe that's something you get in exchange for turning 30, or something. Or maybe not, there is, after all, six years between us.

If you recognize this guy, could you please not clue him into the fact that I happen to be naked on the internet? Just because he'd probably say something to my father, who would CERTAINLY say something to my mother, who would probably stop talking to me again. None of us want that.

Things are starting to get a little tense over here. The job situation is looking a little shaky for Nick_Heretic, so he's stepping up activity in the applying-for-jobs department. He's mentioned that there's a potential job out in Maryland which has got me all excited, even though I originally didn't want to live on the east coast. I quickly realized that there are tons of cool people out that way, including one of my most favorites of relatives, so it might be kind of awesome. But we'll see. It's been explained to me that it's sort of late in the game when it comes to the hiring of college educators for the next school year... We shall see, we shall see. I'd just hate to have to stay around here for another year. If we had to do that, I'd probably just try and convince him that we should just move to Oregon and figure things out from there.

That'd work, right?

Apparently not posting naked pics at the end of my blog is not a good thing, so I'll get back to it.

I have two younger brothers and just never had the kind of friendship that you were referring to. I wish I did looking back on it since my youngest brother passed away a few years ago. I always saw the brother/brother relationship as something stronger than two friends even if two brothers might not hang out like friends, that must sound weird. Reading your blog and watching Revenge of the Sith on TV right now got me thinking about it all. I went and saw Revenge of the Sith with my brother on the opening day a few months before he passed.

And yes, boobers are the best way to end a blog....im totally staring at them right now.

There is 20 years difference between my brother and I, and 21 between my sister. We get along great, but we will most likely never have that kind of friendship.

Your blogs are always good, but the naked pics are always nice.

Yeah most people marvel that my brother and I are such good friends, come to think of it alot of people envy my family relationships because we all get on so well, sure we have ups and downs like everyone but compared to most people I know I wouldn't trade my family for a new one in flash.

My siblings are 7 years younger than me (fraternal twins) and it wasn't until they hit their early 20s and got real jobs and relationships that they had enough in common with me for us to get along. Wouldn't call us best of friends (my brother's closer to our brother-in-law, whose closer to his age) but we get along well.

The family member I'm closest to being best friends with is my cousin who's only 3 months older than me. Since we did everything together while growing up it made us closer obviously. Age difference does make a big deal for a long time.

It does get better. My sister and I finally started talking to each other right around when we hit 30. That bitch was the primary reason I was in-and-out of therapy for most of my teenage years - but there does come a point where you're able let it all go and just treat each other like adults and not like...well.....your sibling. I think what also helps is the separation. I don't really SEE her that much, anymore....."Absence makes the heart grow fonder", so they say.

You know, there are a ton of really cool people on the East coast. wink I think you and Nick would like it out here. Though, truth be told, I'd rather his job prospects settled down right where you guys are. Moving is not much fun.

Have to agree with the idea of treating each other like adults helps. I'm the oldest so I would often bulldoze over my siblings' opinions and ideas, because, hey, they were my "kid" brother and sisters, right?

When I realized what I was doing, I started making a conscious effort to treat them with the same respect I show to other adults, and things started to change for the better. I wasn't obvious about it...sometimes just saying "thanks for the advice" or "that's a good idea, let's do it" or "I know you'll figure it out, you can do it" was enough...I wasn't shutting them down outright, like I used to.

We're all good friends now, and my brother is one of my best and closest friends. We all have different interests and separate lives, but the friendship is there. I guess going out in "the real world" and getting your butt kicked a few times makes you appreciate the trust, love and common history of your siblings that's so hard to find in strangers.

You are very pretty in this photo (1st one). Never seen a "real world" pic of you before. Of course, the 2nd one is great too ;-)
