In the town where I was raised,
The clock ticks and the cattle graze.
Time passed with 'Amazing Grace',
Back where I come from.
Now you can lie on a riverbank,
Paint your name on a water tank.
Or miscount all the beers you drank,
Back where I come from.

Back where I come from,
Where I'll be when it's said and done.
Well, I'm proud as anyone,
That's where I come from.

We learned in Sunday school.
Who made the sun shine through.
I know who made the moonshine, too.
Back where I come from.
Blue eyes on a Saturday night,
Tan legs in the broad day light.
TV's, they were black and white,
Back where I come from.

Back where I come from,
Where I'll be when it's said and done.
Well, I'm proud as anyone,
That's where I come from.

Some say it's a backward place,
Narrow minds on a narrow way.
But I make it a point to say,
That that's where I come from.

My mother lives over in Hotchkiss. Most of my family is on the other side of McClure in Carbondale and Glenwood.

I still think of myself as small town. smile

I'm not much of a country music fan, but that's a really beautiful song. Damn, Kenny must get all the hot women! wink

Oh, and if that picture is of your backyard, please marry me? Thanks. blush kiss

It's really good to see the reservoir up again. Do you know if it's back to full yet?

I went fishing for pike there when I was a kid and was quite alarmed when I saw it empty. I wonder how long it will take to get the fish population back up.

Angela and I are getting married in Marbe in a few weeks and will be passing through Hotchkiss to drop the dog off on our way to Vegas and then, of course, on our way back.

It's weird meeting people from "home" out of context. Now I'm wondering if I met you at some party back in the 80's. I remember some girls from Crawford picked up me and a buddy from the McDs on North Ave in GJ one night in the late 80s and drove us to a party in Hotchkiss. I remember one girl puking on the way there and some hottie on my lap in the front seat kept talking to the girls in the back while rubbing her titties in my face in a not so accidental manner. The party was mostly HS girls, a half a keg and lotsa peach schnappes. Pretty good odds, I thought, and then I woke up the next day in the back of a truck somewhere in Montrose. That's all I remember except that the hitchhike home with a 5 alarm hangover really sucked. I'm betting you knew most of those girls. Small world, huh?

Hmmm, that lake looks wicked for fishin' smile

Great lyrics, I grew up on country cause my old man always cranked Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, but somehow along the way I've really lost touch with country music, just all seems to blend with pop/rock it seems. Is anyone out there making good classic country music?

The two pics you sent are more than OK.
love
Xtra beautiful.
You look happy and healthy - hope the girl is too.
kiss

The pic in your journal makes me miss Vermont in some serious ways. Looks a lot like the scenery that greeted me and the 1st true love every morning. I can almost smell it coming in the window now. Love it. Absolutely love it.
