OK, my back is still playing up and the wife is still away for work but life is good.

Reason 1 > I have my first physio appointment tomorrow evening. It's with an old school friend I haven't seen in years so it'll be awesome catching up and also doing some low level physio core strength training and get rid of my dicky back pain.

Reason 2 > One of the bands I play in, Cobra Khan, is playing this Saturday night at Whammy Bar in Auckland with our friends Leeches and Carthaginian. It's the first show we've played with our new line up (we have a new drummer and guitarist since last we played), and it'll also be our first gig in about 14 months. shocked I encourage everyone in the Auckland area to come along coz it's going to be a great show. smile

Reason 3 > It's almost properly summer and we've already been sitting in backyards drinking beers in the sun. YAY!

Life is good. smile

Having a bad day...

Firstly I went back to the back specialist this morning with MRI scans in hand hoping for the best which would've just been a simple *twist* *crack* 'ahhh, that's better', but unfortunately one of my discs had ruptured and so I need 2 Cortisone shots into the spine, 3 months of healing without aggravating it further and probably another MRI followed by physiotherapy.

Secondly, I heard back from the company I applied for a position with and although I was on a shortlist of 3 for it they decided to go for someone with a more dev based background. I wasn't counting on getting the job but I was quite optimistic about it. Oh well, I'll wait til something else comes up with them I guess.

Thirdly, a local band of some note had engaged me do remix another song for them (well, their label did after I'd done one for them a couple of months ago) and now they've stalled it saying they're not sure of the direction. Could be hours down the drain for nothing.

We're puppy sitting!

The tiny black one is Pepe! smile

Had my MRI yesterday so hopefully if all is well with the scan then I get my back put back in place next week.

OK, back in the hot seat at work again... Glad to be home but it would've been fun to stay on the rock'n'roll circus bandwagon for a bit longer. Didn't take fuck all tour pics but luckily other people have.

And a vid of us in Sydney too:

Tour going well, will be home in two days. Will update properly then.

Feeling better at this end of the week. It didn't exactly chill out but at least it was filled with being busy catching up on work and getting ready for the Aussie touring this coming weekend and week than sitting here feeling sorry for myself. Wow, so it's totally crept up on me and today is the day: the first day of the Exodus Australasian tour. I've spend much of the past 2 or 3 days getting my rig road/flight ready, including securing me Boss GT8 pedal in it's case properly (fucker ain't gonna move now). I took some pics of the rig coz I am so proud of it:

Jesus, the last couple of days have been rather heavy starting with aunty Sue's funeral yesterday. It was a really shitty excuse for a family get together but it was good to see some cousins I have caught up with in over 20 years. The servie was really nice, there was a selection of photos from throughout her life, from the humorous to the touching, some of which made a few of us ball (and crack up at times also). Mum got up and read a poem for Sue and she did really well not to break down. Ian (Sue's husband) my cousins Steve and Brendon gave a short but touching remembrance of her too. After that it was a trip up to the cemetery to intern her and say last goodbyes. We all then met back up for cakes and tea at the church where the service was held and that was followed by many drinks at the local pub. Sarraz's mum, who also attended the funeral got rather drunk off the two wines she had and when it came time to leave (at around 6:30pm) she fell rather badly outside in the carpark and needed looking after. She wasn't too bad really but we all got a scare.

We all regrouped back at mum and dad's place for takeaway curry and more beer. Sarraz's mum had a lie down for a bit due to her still feeling shaken and we ended up bringing her back to our house to stay the night rather than send her back to Waiheke island in the state she was in.

This morning she had another fall as Sarraz was about to take her to the ferry. THis time she fell headfirst into the back wheel rim of our car and cut her head quite badly. We've only just got back from the hospital and thankfully apart from having 7 stitches in her forehead she's mostly ok.

What a start to the week. surreal
