If Sylvia Plath hadn't been so sad, I think she'd sing. I think she'd sing like this.

This album put me in a curious mood. A prescient mood –the kind that makes you feel something that you don't quite understand, and stirs up all kinds of memories that you aren't quite sure why you are remembering, and you find yourself near tears about things you thought you had completely forgotten about.

And then five minutes later, when you have a break and you've got some time to write, it's all gone.

But I digress…

After a 4 hour flight delay and an overnight stay at the illustrious Sheraton in Atlanta, GA, MrCrisp is back on base in Navyland (er, at least, the Navyland he actually lives in…San Diego is essentially Navyland with a smattering of Marines). I'm sad. He's not nearly as grumpy in real life as he is on the internet, and there aren't many men in this world you can go shopping with and switch shirts if the size is off by a bit. Spending the weekend going to some of the best places San Diego has to offer made this stupid city exceedingly tolerable. Maybe I shouldn't have been so grumpy about living here. Maybe.

What albums put you into curious moods?

I might have to kick some ass if you keep talking trash about my city.

Remember, I'll be there in a month.

Rubber Soul. That and Revolver are my fave Beatles albums and for some reason I get super sentimental while listening to them... I hold no ties or person to their playing at all. It's almost like it corresponds to a past life. A very strange feeling.

Eleanor Rigby is the original emo song. FUCK ELLIOTT SMITH.

This link may or may not prove useful, but it's a starting point.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Montrose/Rice/Museum District/ West U/River Oaks it's all pretty accessible to Rice U. within about 7-15 minutes on a clear road day. Midtown/ Downtown/Galleria probably 12-25. Just to give you an idea. These are all mostly good areas some more expensive than others. Downtown can be a little dodgy in parts and Galleria can get very trafficky.

Not sure what your budget is but these two look okay (under $700) and in an area convenient to Rice (like a 3-5 minute bike ride.) Driving around though should bring you some luck.

If you are willing to drive further places could get cheaper since there are many more larger complexes further from the university. Rice is located in a more established and expensive area of town. It is mostly homes and a smattering of pricey condos in the immediate area.

So, KFC might be not be actually be 100% chicken. Apparently, it's also 0.02% beef. That being said, it still smelt awesome.
