But yea, love for the people arround you have a way to sneak up on you. Suddenly you don't know what you would do if you ever lost them.

You can't just turn off those feelings because someone else does...
Sometimes you must, to support those closest to you, but not all breakups are bad... Sometimes people just go seperate ways :-)

Boat Captain. That must be like a dream come true. I would have loved that! The closest I came was skippering 18 foot two man catamarans in races on lakes.

It's a good job, long hours, but I get to spend 6 months a year at home :-)

Catamaran racing sounds like fun, did you win anything?

I won only a couple of beginners class races. Got tophies for non-first finishes in both beginners and intermediate levels. Only three levels total. It was a very friendy sport. Everyone helped each other out at regattas and especially taught the novices how to sail better. I learned a lot about the shape of a sail aginst the wind. Adding 1/10 of a knot over a three mile race makes a huge difference. It was just a really fun sport because of the people. Couldn't continue after I moved though to a place that didn't have the races and they were just too far off to drive to anymore.

Six months at home I assume means six months at sea. Long time to be away from the family.
