Obligatory blog post about classes being over and the extent to which I kicked their asses. MDF in less than a week! Long-time friends, Rexx, and I are going to have a weekend way, way better than yours.
I had two SG accounts way back in 2005, and I wish I could remember why. Never did solve the mystery of who tried to reactivate the forgotten one for me. I really want to know.
If I don't figure out where to go on vacation soon, it'll be too expensive to go anywhere. Maybe South America? I always think of going back to Europe first, never considering anywhere else. Could be missing out.
Not allowing current season passes for Game of Thrones is beyond stupid. What exactly is HBO's rationale? People aren't going to subscribe for one show. I don't even have my own place to make those kinds of decisions anyway, loyal idiots like myself would even gladly pay for it again when it comes out on Blu-ray. Instead they wonder why so many are pirating. Gonna be a long wait. No spoilers.
My artist canceled the second appointment in a row. I guess being in the hospital is a good enough excuse. I don't think I'll be able to get my sleeves finished before Maryland Deathfest, but I'll sure try!
Two weeks ago I saw Inquisition again, and every time I'm blown away by the entrancing, blasting atmosphere of their shows. I managed to get a rare version of one of their albums (only 1 of 200!) and some others that are pretty impossible to find now. I think I'm becoming obsessed with tracking down hard-to-find metal albums, and it doesn't help that I'm turning out to be pretty good at it. I don't think this small post office has ever seen so much mail from Lithuania.
How can anyone stand to have hair? Same thing with facial hair. I've tried a few times to grow it out but it drives me crazy and I go back to having it shaved. My hair has never been as long as it is now and it's not even close enough to look good or do anything with. I'll be so glad when it's at least long enough to tie back.
I can't believe it's almost April already. Yesterday I accidentally convinced my roommate to teach English in Argentina when he gets out of the Navy in October... which means I'll definitely be homeless again by then. So much planning to do.
Spring break after some brutal classes. I can't go anywhere, so thus far it's been Twin Peaks (I can't believe it took me this long to start watching), lifting, and as of today, the new StarCraft. Getting tattooed for the first time in over a month this Friday, and I can't wait for that therapeutic feeling.
One of my only friends here and basically my only means to do anything left the state to get his own shit together. I can't blame him, but it does mean day-to-day life is going to start sucking a lot more. The good news is that the bad news I was expecting from school was just a false alarm. On track to break some personal records and get overdue things done. This summer I'll be going back "home" to the Faroes for a couple months, returning to my double life in the middle of the Atlantic.
So thrilled for my best buddy Luna going pink. Also happy for Mermaid and MR sets from Rexx and Posca!
Texts from friends about jealousy and the weather:
I found out I have a lot of unexpected money coming in, and now I might be going back to the Faroe Islands this summer to visit my whole gang there and my friend's wedding. This year is awesome already. Not enough has changed yet, though. Where should I live next?
Totally forgot about the Testament tour, but I managed to make some free time. Overkill wrecked my neck like they've always said they would.
Pagan Altar has been in my head all day even though I'm not usually a fan. They're growing on me, and that's cool since they'll be playing in May.
I decided that giving up drinking entirely is stupid. After reading articles about artificial sweeteners I'm trying to quit Diet Coke instead. Not really missing eating meat as much as I thought I would. All these changes are making me feel and look better already.
Winter vacation went by entirely too quickly, and the spring semester is insanely busy only three days in. I honestly don't think there's enough time in the day to work full-time trying to develop iPad apps, do all the schoolwork to my standards, and get tattooed once a week.
Then I bought the new iMac! Now school/work/games go a lot faster. A couple hours after that I was on my way to Atlanta for Speedwolf, Exhumed, Napalm Death, and Municipal Waste. It was an unexpected, fucking cool night of covers. Speedwolf and Barney Greenway doing Motörhead's "Iron Fist," Exhumed and Barney covering Siege's "Drop Dead," and Municipal Waste with S.O.D.'s "United Forces." Got a few compliments on this, too:
I've passively been interested in Hinduism for a long time. Years ago I read at least some of the Bhagavad Gita (until I lost it or something) and became curious to learn more, and only slightly more recently I discovered Rudra. While I'll probably never deviate from atheism now, Rudra awesomely combines Hinduism with a true passion of mine -- death metal -- in a way that inspires more investigation and a desire for self-improvement/enlightenment.
