I went to a big punk rock show today. I had been looking forward to it, even excited about it for a while now. I was kinda hoping something fun like this would get me out of the funk that Ive been for the last couple weeks.
Well, Im a little disappointed with it. It kinda blew.
It started out very well, I was up close to see the Distillers, probably my favourite band right now, and they were awesome. But the bad thing was that they played first at 11:00am. It was fucking hot outside and Im not exactly a hot weather type, so the weather was hell for me throughout the day.
I liked some of the bands (Distillers, TSOL, The Damned, X, Pennywise), was indifferent about some (GBH, Adolescents, Buzzcocks, Bad Religion), didnt like a few (Unwritten Law, New Found Glory, Blink 182) and left before a few of them played (Social D, The Offspring, Sex Pistols)
The best thing, other than the distillers - was all the purty girls there. I think I fell in love about 50 times today.
The worst thing some of the fucking people that went to the show. There were a lot of ignorant assholes there. Earlier it was just drunk idiots, which I kinda expected but later on I was truly amazed. As soon as it got dark a ton of fights broke out and people kept setting fires. I think when I left there were 10 fires going on and I had already seen five fights breakout. It reminded me of Lord Of The Flies where the one group of kids reverted to this animalistic/uncivilized/lowest common denominator type behavior. But all it took here was for it to get dark and there was a big group of people. Apparently from talking with EricAllen, he said this happens everytime there.
