There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

"You don't want to sell me death-sticks.
You want to go home and re-think your life."

Someone recently said to me: "You must really like driving."

I found the comment rather strange. Imagine saying to a waitress "You must really like serving food." Know what I mean? I would say that in general I can tollerate driving. This job requires concentration, patience, and a mind for safety. But I wouldn't go so far as to say I do it because I like driving. I do it because it pays me a good salary.

The folks line up all down the street
And I'm seeing this girl devour her meat now
And then I get it, wham, as clear as day
My pulse begins to hammer then I hear a voice say
These boys have got this down, oughtta be one of these in every town
These boys have got the touch; it's clean as a whistle and it don't cost much
Wham, bam, you don't wait long, shake, fries, patty, and you're gone
And how about that friendly name? Heck, every little thing oughtta stay the same
Oh my name is not croc, that's Kroc with a K
Like crocodile but not spelled that way now
Its dog eat dog, rat eat rat
Dog eat dog, rat eat rat now
Ohh its dog eat dog, rat eat rat
Kroc style - Boom, like that

You gentlemen ought to expand
You're going to need a helping hand now
So gentlemen well what about me?
We'll make a little business history, now
Oh my name is not croc, call me Ray
Like crocodile but not spelled that way now
Its dog eat dog, rat eat rat
Kroc style - Boom, like that

Well we build it up and I buy 'em out
But man they made me grind it out now
They open up a new place flipping meat
So I do too, right across the street
I got the name but I need the town, they sell up in the end and it all shuts down
Sometimes you gotta be an S.O.B.; you wanna make a dream reality
Competition send 'em south, they're gonna drown put a hose in their mouth
Do not pass go straight to hell, I smell that meat hook smell
Oh my name is not croc, that's Kroc with a K
Like crocodile but not spelled that way now
Ohh its dog eat dog, rat eat rat
Dog eat dog, rat eat rat now
Ohh its dog eat dog, rat eat rat
Kroc style - Boom, like that

Playlist for Wednesday:

Mark Knopfler "Boom, Like That"
Adam Ant "Goody Two Shoes"
Pedro The Lion "Big Trucks"
Cake "No Phone"
Afro Celt Sound System "Eireann"
The Folk Implosion "Natural One"
Tegan & Sara "Walking With A Ghost"
Liz Phair "Johnny Feelgood"
MC Lars "Signing Emo"
Sigur Ros "Svefn-g-englar"

I must have listened to "Boom, Like That" half a dozen times before I consciously recognized that it was about McDonald's. Someone recently suggested "Super Size" as a documentary to see. I think it's pretty clear even without having seen it that Mickey D's and others like it have encouraged the "expansion" of America. I really wish my meal choices were healthier (but still tasty) out here on the road. I hate fast food, and I hate having to eat it often.

My current two SG friends are really fun lately. Danke, ladies... for making me smile. Much love to ya both. smile

I'm crawling through the underbrush, we're teched up to the hilt
Compared to us these poor guys should be wearing shorts and kilts
I've got a living breathing shadow crossed up in my scope
My partner gives the signal, pull the trigger, then there's smoke

Might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side and makes us mighty
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side I don't believe them

They want us from the villages, they want us from the towns
Who could really blame them, shit blows up when we're around
We fly above their houses with our Huey double-props
We scare the crap out of their kids, their mothers and their frocks

Might makes right
Yeah might makes right
I guess 'cause god is on our side it makes us mighty
Yeah might makes right
Yeah might makes right
They say that god is on our side I don't believe them

Emily, sweet baby, won't you be my wife
Cutting me wide open with a kitchen knife
Everybody said that she is underage
Honky tried to shoot me with a 7 gage

Now I got the cookies that your momma sent
I got permission from the government
Someone should mention to the minister
Now I gotta dance with Jennifer

Jenny's got a mousehole full of pigeon scum
On top a mountain made of bubble gum
Don't understand what all the grief is for
Now I gotta dance with Eleanor

Eleanor, I wonder if we grew too slow
Straight down the hatch beneath the streetlight's glow
Baby when I get you on that persian rug
That's the kind of movies I've been dreaming of

Got a little playlist theme going on today. Feel free to add your own! smile

I'm in New Hampshire tonight. Going to watch some Battlestar Galactica on DVD. Yes... Star Wars isn't my only sci-fi addiction by a long shot. Scary thing is I remember watching these BG episodes when they first aired on television. Why oh why were only 17 episodes made? (Oh yeah, because they were pretty cheesy. Sratch that... they were seriously fucking lame). As a kid, I did not recognize it's inherent "lameness" however, and thus my adult enjoyment is based more on a feeling of nostalgia than anything else.

It's being re-made on the Sci-Fi channel but since I don't have a television in my truck I will likely have to wait to see the new ones until they're put on a DVD collection.

Question:

Do you enjoy eating? How about drinking? Beer perhaps... or spring water? Do you smoke? Do you wear clothes? Do you have a place to live? Got lots of nice "things"?

If you have it, a truck driver brought it. Everything. Seriously. Think about that next time you get so fucking pissed off at being behind a truck who is "only" going the speed limit carrying YOUR shit.

And have a nice day! ooo aaa

Everyone's creeping up to the money god,
Putting tongues where they didn't ought to be.
On stepping stones of human hearts and souls,
Into the land of "nothing for free."

Well the way that we're living,
Is all take and no giving,
There's nothing to believe in,
The loudest mouth will hail the new found way,
To be king for a day.

Playlist for Friday:

The Cars "It's All I Can Do"
Elvis Costello "Alison"

Totally old-school tunes today.

Anyhow, I am such a Star Wars geek that I ordered a lightsaber today and currently shopping for a Jedi robe and other costume elements. Assuming I get everything before "Revenge Of The Sith" comes out, I would love to go in-costume. In fact I would be willingly subjecting myself to the cracks of Triumph. He gave it to the fans pretty hard when Ep. II came out. It was funny as hell too... but despite all that I might just do it. (HERE is a link to the skit). I am totally with Eli on the down-with-the-dark-side biz. This is the Episode that the most hard core of Star Wars fans have been waiting for. The first three movies (Ep. 4, 5, 6) are really all about the redemption of Anakin. These prequels (and climaxing the the forthcoming "Revenge of The Sith") are all about his downfall. I find that far more interesting, frankly. Here's a picture of the saber:.

By the way, I find it pretty fucking awesome that there's a Suicide Girl with my name. Eli is one cool chick, and while my own skateboarding days only lasted a couple of years LONG ago, her passion for it reminds me of how much I loved mountain biking before I got behind the wheel of this truck. Oh yes, and if I've failed to mention it previously.. she totally makes me schwing!

Okay boys and girls... ANYONE who likes music (and who doesn't?) really needs to look at SIRIUS Radio. Yes, that is Satellite radio... and yes you have to pay for it. WHY should you pay, you might ask, when radio is available for free? I'll tell you why... because in addition to all of the amazing news, sports, and entertainment (think an audio version of cable TV) you get 65 channels of music with NO COMMERCIALS at all. And they have massive variety. My favorite channel is Left Of Center. I also love First Wave, and Alt Nation. Additionally, I suggest Classic Vinyl, Octane, and Sirius Disorder. But your mileage may vary.

The cost is less than one CD a month, people. And a plug-and-play device can be used at home, in your car, and at your office. You can sign up for a FREE 3-DAY TRIAL on the website. If you have broadband internet, definitely check it out. (Shh! Don't tell Eli that Tony Hawk is a DJ on " Faction". Oh, and so is Bam Margera.)

Heading home on Friday. Leaving again on Sunday. Typical short weekend for me... but vacation is getting closer and closer.

Last but not least, for Eli: just whistle if you ever need a 65 foot long skateboard to ride on, girl. smile

Step right up and don't be shy,
because you will not believe your eyes.
She's right here behind the glass
and you're gonna like her,
'cause she's got class.
You can look inside another world.
You get to talk to a pretty girl.
She's everything you dream about...
but don't fall in love...
She's a beauty ---
one in a million girls,
she's a beauty.

Since Sophie commented on religion yesterday, sharing some of her views... I'll expand a bit on my own. Officially I am agnostic. In all honesty, I simply don't know what to believe. Deep in my heart, I do not think that I believe in God the way that conventional wisdom portrays said being. As in... a sentient and omniscient "thing" that is responsible for our existence and has a particular interest in us... at least enough so to occasionally (if rarely) intervene.

Well, frankly I just don't buy it. Don't get me wrong... there is PLENTY that I (or anyone) cannot explain. I also think we're at a point where most rational people have accepted evolution over creationism. This is good because the latter idea is completely fucking rediculous. Now... if someone of faith wants to attribute the process of evolution to God, then I'm ok with that. I may not necessarily agree, but that is an acceptable position to take as far as I'm concerned.

I even find it fascinating to contemplate the possibility that a sentient being of some type is responsible for the existence of the universe. It may or may not be so, and pretty unlikely any of us will ever know (this is where that whole "faith" thing comes in). I believe in science. I believe that the "Big Bang" theory is reasonably likely. What science cannot explain are things such as:

What happened right BEFORE the Big Bang?
Where did the "stuff" come from?
If the universe is expanding, what is it expanding into? In other words... what is just beyond the edge of the expansion?

There could be a God, Gods, or some other interesting and unexplainable presence that has something to do with questions such as these. Personally, I think that if that IS so... then we give this God a lot more credit than it may be due. Hearing our prayers? Knowing us as individuals? Caring about us?

I seriously doubt it.

...but I would definitely like to be wrong.

Now... speaking strictly philosophically, I find much to be curious about when it comes to eastern religions and in particular Buddhism. It is something that (what little I know) has an appeal to me, and considerable wisdom and humility that often seems lost on more "western" religions and Christianity specifically. Buddha never claimed to be divine, for example. This is something that I have intended to learn more about for a while, but have not made the time to do so.

But I digress... ok I know I JUST started posting here on SG. I know that I barely have time to check the forums at all (I simply work too fucking much and don't have time. Forums can be a major time-sink). That all being said, I need to add some friends. Yikes. As wonderful as Sophie is, she can't be the ONLY one reading. smile

I am just a new boy,
Stranger in this town.
Where are all the good times?
Who's gonna show this stranger around?
Ooooh, I need a dirty woman.
Ooooh, I need a dirty girl.

Will some cold woman in this desert land
Make me feel like a real man?
Take this rock and roll refugee
Oooh, baby set me free.

Ooooh, I need a dirty woman.
Ooooh, I need a dirty girl.
