Paul McCartney Concert

So last week I was invited by a co-worker in the UK who actually works with Paul McCartney, arranging all his travel and event details, to his concert here in Mexico last Friday at the Foro Sol Stadium with over 60,000 in attendance. I am actually not a big fan of his new stuff, I actually haven't heard much or bought any since his eighties stuff, especially the Wings tunes. However, the man is a legend in the history of music. I have all the Beatles music on CD. The first tune I learned to play on the guitar was "Eleanor Rigby".

So I get six tickets, center stage on the 9th row, actually not to bad, from my friend. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised. The old guy can still rock hard at 67yrs old! AND what a great list of classical tunes, some stuff I had never heard before, but it still rocked.

Here is a video I took with my Iphone of a song Paul composed for the Mexican audience . . . apparently its the only country in the world where the lights in the audience (lighters, mobiles, etc) are synchronized to the beat of the music.

Here are some more pics that I took during the show.

Midway through the concert it started to rain, and rain hard too! They had handed out some plastic ponchos and everyone stayed and enjoyed the show. Overall, a great show with great music. Paul is still going strong!

Thanks for the comments on my pics (Serial, Laurelin, Spink, Mylene, and Lui). To Serial’s point . . . money does help when you are traveling, but the key to traveling the world is to work in the travel industry. You can still get some great discounts and in my case, I squeeze in some R&R time when I travel for work; however, it the pay is shit.

Here is a trip I took back in November of 2007 to Asia. We went with a group of friends to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. These pictures are of the Laos portion of the trip. It is still VERY rustic. Luang Prabang was the town where we stayed at . . . very spiritual and tranquil. Before its independence it was part of the French Indochina Empire. You can still see the French influence in the cooking. The people are so kind and easy going, it’s hard to envision the chaos of past wars that took place here (Independence from France and the Vietnam war). They still have some old bombshells that they used as plant pots and other everyday use.

Here are some pics of the markets around Luang Prabang:

This is late morning in an indoor market and this is the meat department . . . it's where they slaughter the water buffalo (no beef as we know it in these parts of the world). It was something like 80F temp inside the place and no refrigeration! Narly! The poor ladies get there from 4am. The people in this region of the world love the taste of freshly slaughtered water buffalo! Water buffalo tastes very gamey and it is tough meat. Very much an acquired taste.

Fresh chickens! Yum!

We went to this village outside of Luang Prabang off the Mekong River where they make "Rice Whiskey". It is basically rice moonshine! It doesn't taste great cuz its basically straight alcohol (similar to Everclear). Check out these pics . . . the guy here is making the rice mash to ferment . . . and the lady in the next pic is selling the finished product. If you look closely, those are Red Cross water bottles. They receive bottled water from the Red Cross and re-use the bottles to bottle there Rice Whiskey! Its about 1 US Dollar a bottle! Talk about a cheap buzz!

So after visiting the SG site and floating around taking in all the SG beauties, I thought I would begin writing in my blog . . . time has been a big reason for not doing so before.

The thing I like most from viewing all these women, besides some of the great pictures, is reading some of the thoughts written down in each respective blog. I read about strength, perseverance, stress, joy, intellect, creativeness, and emotions that go everywhere. I especially love those that have a zest for life! That is the real beauty of women.

The other great thing of this site is the diversity of women. There are women from all corners of the world who are so different, yet so alike. You learn so much.

One of my loves in this world is to travel. Maybe that is why I like this previous diversity point so much. There is so much I love about our world and its many cultures, people, and countries. One needs to look beyond what the media says and visit and experience it in person. It is true, the world goes through some ugly and trying times like natural disasters, wars, health epidemics, economic crisis, and crime; however, that is life, and it will not be changing any time soon. It is the strength and resilience in people that help in surviving these situations. We all go through some challenges in our life.

So I thought to myself what I could write about in my blog? Travel … places I have been too seems like a good start. I am posting some of my favorite destinations. Hope that they are enjoyed by you guys . . . starting out with some Mexico and Spain.

zoom image This is Chichen Itza that is in the Mexican state of Yucatan.

zoom image The ancient holy city of Teotihuacan outside of Mexico City.

zoom image This is where Tequila comes from, the beautiful agave plant. Took this pic when I was visiting the Mundo Cuervo Tequila plant . . . that visit is still a little hazy.

zoom image This is Cancun . . . I was just here in February, warm sunset.

That was just a little of Mexico . . . now for some Spain.

zoom image This is right outside of Madrid, what an incredible city. It has so much history and beauty.

zoom image This is the aqueduct in Segovia . . . great medieval town . . . good food, wine, and fun.

zoom image The entrance to "Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia" in Barcelona. It is considered the master-work of renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí.
