I love Arizona to pieces!!!
Some snapshots of my trip:
Jerome used to be a mining town that was abandoned when the mine went dry and was taken over by a bunch of hippies that squatted there and then turned it into an artsy town!

Haunted remains of a building in Jerome

My Grandma and I at the winery that makes/sells Maynard's wine

My Uncle being silly in the car

Sedona is beautiful!

My cute cousins!
I took myself on a day road trip up to the Homolovi Ruins and the Painted Desert / Petrified Forest

The Homolovi Ruins... the last place the Hopi people lived before they were moved to the reservations... these are remains of a house at Homolovi II

This is me going into the Homolovi I Ruins

Nothing much is left except for the Little Colorado River

This is a cute little lizard who posed for me!

A petroglyph by the ruins

Petrified wood can cut through glass!

The Agate Bridge (it's the tree that's the bridge)

This whole desert was once mostly submerged in water when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

I got my kicks on Route 66! It's the only (or one of the only) parts of the original Route 66 that is on nationally protected land. I feel bad for the poor folks who got stuck in the desert with their car broken down and their tires mysteriously gone!

I just love the desert!

Yay desert!!!

The sun set, and I had to leave

That was my trip to the Petrified Forest!

I got ready to go back to my Uncle's and then back to Michigan

Ah, I love Arizona!!!
It was supposed to take me about 3 1/2 hours to get back to my Uncle's from the Petrified Forest, and when I was about half an hour away, I got detoured, and that started a whole new adventure to get back that took an extra 2 hours!!!
The road on my last highway back was closed because the road caved in! I got detoured along the Tonto National Forest (which was really beautiful with a few lakes and big mountains and there was a full moon that evening) and referenced my new phone (it's nice to have Google maps on your phone when you get detoured in another state) and noticed that there was only 2 highways that would get me back to my Uncle's place. One of them was an extra 1 1/2 hours, and the other was only an extra 45 minutes! So myself and a whole bunch of other cars started taking this highway. It was literally a dirt road in the mountains... no guard rails, no pavement after the first 1/2 mile and it was about a 1 1/2 lane road. We're all just going on our merry way for about 20 minutes and are going 25 mph up and down this road. Then there are some headlights... coming up the other way. I, of course, immediately think there's bad trouble, and yup... there was. See, some semi trucks decided to take this road to avoid the detour... and one of them got stuck at the bottom of the mountain... and then another one got stuck... and then a third one was able to get turned around, because the 2 stuck semis make it impossible to go any further... and that third semi was coming back up the mountain and we all had to turn around! So I got to turn around Austin Powers style on this road and get my ass back to where I had turned on the highway in the first place and go the extra 1 1/2 hours, which turned into 2 by that time... and with my road rage helping, too as I was seriously pissed since I'd been up since 8 and wasn't going to be able to sleep until 1 and nobody was going fast enough for me to get back!
But it was a fun little adventure!
And that was my trip!

So Georgia was a super-duper BLAST!!!
Here's my ladies who went with me on a fabulous road trip for peace

The IMPEACH table

some folks just chillin' by the fence on Saturday

the drum circle we were in on Saturday evening after the benefit concert... and afterwards we met a guy who was going to cross the line!

my Star of David on the fence standing out from all the crosses (upper left)

I thought these kites were so fucking awesome!

There were apartment buildings here last year that were used by the SOA watch, but the venue keeps on getting smaller and "they" seem to keep trying to make us more uncomfortable

There were memorials all over the fences (as per usual)

and a whole shit-load of people!!!

On another very important issue...
Take Action Now! Here's a copy of an e-mail I received from
The Sierra Club (I did also receive a similar e-mail from Clean Water Action)
Dear Sierra Club Members and Friends,
Our state is threatened with an onslaught of at least seven new dirty coal-fired power plants that will keep Michigan locked in the energy dark ages, dependent on imported fossil fuels and produce more dangerous global warming pollution. More outdated dirty coal plants will hamper the development of clean energy and the good paying jobs that come with it.
But you can help stop this from happening by going to www.nocoalrush.com (you may have to paste this link into your browser) and signing an online petition that tells state legislators to Stop the Coal Rush by passing legislation to establish a NO MORE COAL PLANT policy until Michigan has an aggressive Clean Energy Plan that would:
* Enact a strong renewable energy standard that requires energy providers to generate 20 percent of their electric power from renewable sources by 2020.
* Enact strong statewide utility funded energy efficiency programs that result in at least 1% energy savings per year.
* Implement a long term energy plan that guarantees energy efficiency and renewable power are used before any more outdated coal plants are built.
* Protect consumers from having to absorb the skyrocketing future costs of coal burning.
* Develop new standards for controlling the emissions of CO2
Tell legislators in Lansing that it's time to put old-fashioned, dirty, global-warming coal power aside and point the state to a new, clean, jobs-rich future that protects the Great Lakes. Investing in clean power and efficiency will eliminate the need for more dirty coal plants, build Michigan's energy independence, stem our loss of billions of energy dollars and attract 21st-century jobs.
Time is of the essence. Please go to www.nocoalrush.com right now and tell the legislature and your friends that Michigan's energy future is on the line.
