Deserved draw I thought, and the ref was horrible.

His decision was to call "nothing". Which, is always a poor decision.

If I was a DU fan, I'd be pissed that it was a non call penalty, but as a Celtic fan the handball in the box that should have been called and McDonald being brought down by the last man in what could have been a straight red. All waved.

Nice to see the SPL officials are already off to a good start.

Maybe we could bring some over from CONCACAF....oh wait. frown

On Sirius? I've got the Channel 67 package so I get to see all the games. Couldn't really live without it!

Oh, it was a PK. The only justification I could see to not awarding it (other than the bad refereeing) was that it looked like he got hit and he fell a bit late. Late enough so the ref who refused to call anything would try to justify using flawed logic that it was not a penalty. As all the Celtic commentators said, if that was on the other end we'd all want that call.

The St. Mirren game was much of the same. The penalty they actually gave Celtic wasn't the stonewaller he waved off earlier, and instead was an incredibly soft one (if that...). Of course, you don't hear about the calls that should have been, you only hear about the bad ones because the media loves to stir controversy.

A lot of people call conspiracy with Scottish refereeing, and while there are arguments on either side I think everyone can agree for the most part its just really poor. Mistakes are going to happen, but consistency is rarely there and mistakes seem to happen a bit too much for Specsavers to be sponsoring them.

In the end, I wonder if a DU (or St. Mirren) win would have been more beneficial to the team. I think they are not doing enough to keep Rangers behind them. Rangers are doing one last Murray spend before he bails, and if Celtic wins again, Rangers will fall even further.

I've been clamoring for weeks that something needs to be done and some first team players need to be brought in, but so far its squad players and prospects. If this continues, I think Celtic could lose the league and it will be down to the board because they refused to make changes.

I picked up another soccer book -- Stamping Grounds. Have you heard of it? It sounded pretty interesting (to me anyways). A guy follows Liechtenstein through their world cup qualifiers.

Lastly have you read '78: How Scotland lost the World Cup? and is that worthwhile?

I just got some extra cash with a late birthday present so I think I'm going to pick up one of the cricket books you recommended, some soccer ones and a few boxing biographies.

I have been a lazy sod lately. I'm sure a writing spree will hit me soon though.
