More book reviews coming. I've been spending a lot of time reading and riding the ferocious Chicago subways of late.

So far, in those subway travels, I've read:
Trois chambres a Manhattan by Georges Simenon
Bloody Confused by Chuck Culpepper
Ubik by Philip K Dick
The Philip K Dick reader (a collection of pulp short stories)
and the new Robert Coover, which is actually pretty good.

Hey, how is Thursday night for you?
The next 2 nights I should be hitting the gym with the wife, but tomorrow night I can go home after (roughly 9:00pm), clean up and meet you at Kasey's Tavern if you can swing that.
Interested??

They got a fuckload of HD flatscreens in Kasey's these days, you should inquire in advance about the game you're looking for!

Shit, they usually show every baseball game being aired on television at the same time, so they could get your MLS game on one of the TVs if it was on The Ocho
(that's a really funny reference if you saw Dodgeball).

I haven't been reading too much lately, but I did just order "Soccer Against the Enemy" by Simon Kuper.

Good shout, I actually saw that today.

It looked like it would be something for someone new to the game to pick up, but not for anyone that is a serious diehard of the sport and spends time following it.

I find many books written as essentially "Americans Abroad" are filled with the same old stuff and they have to explain "rules of the game" and things of that nature.

I wish most of them had moved past it, but they still write as if we don't have a fanbase that knows anything.

Oh wow really? and its about the EPL too. puke

Thanks for the heads up.

If there are any soccer related books you'd recommend do let me know. I am currently trying to compile some more to read over the next few months.

I've already hit a few of the big ones ---Yours of course biggrin, The Glory Game, Miracle of Castel Di Sangro, A Season with Verona, How Soccer Explains the World, Fever Pitch and a few others.

Also, Tamas is at Celtic Park for talks, probably should sign tomorrow.

When does Dundee United kick off preseason? It's got to be pretty soon. Rangers started last weekend and Celtic have games Friday and Saturday.
