Honestly, the difference between the first and second half really tells the story of this trip.
I guess I would say this trip wasn't taken as seriously as I would have liked it to have been and essentially wasted two games we aren't likely to see again. A lack of call ups due to injuries and the MLS, chopping and changing that completely kills the team in the 2nd half, playing DMB who's not fit at all, actually giving Wolff TWO games....
Not that I think these were necessarily winnable because I don't. What I do want to see is our BEST team going after games and trying to do something rather than throwing games away. The defense is not good enough to sit back and defend for 70 odd minutes, without some threat up front the US will always lose against good opponents.
The first half gave me hope it could have been 0-0...or at least the US was actually threatening and linking up in the final third with Adu up there, but once Bradley brought on most of the ineffective players that went against England, it was over as a contest.
Hopefully Argentina will be different, but somehow I doubt it, even if its at home.
Good column today, but I'd argue the team of 2002 was superior talent wise. We don't have a midfield that comes close to that today - same goes for the forwards.
I am mad because Boca Juniors were eliminated last night in Brazil but I am pumped up because of the Euro 2008 competition, and I hope that Holland wins playing beautiful futbol. and I also hope that Italy loses in the first round. But how are you? your health? A big hug to you!
