Have not posted in a while.....been busy busy. Feel like the idiot on the Fed Ex commercial. Actually....I am 40 and I have no friends that like the same music I do. I run in what society may call normal circles...and then when something goes down that I want to do...well I end up with no one to go with. (Yes, I am married to a "normal" woman....great woman but she hates my "weirdo" music)

So...Magnolia Electric Co. is hitting Athens, GA and Asheville, NC in October. I have to go...I have been addicted to this bang for going on 3 months now and it is a must see for me. The question is....ahh f*** it....I will go by myself. This is what happens when your brother moves away. Besides....it is a smokey bar....lounge around type sound anyway....I can wallow in it all by myself.

Later on!

Spent a little over a week at the beach. Man do I feel relaxed right now. This may only last a few hours once work really kicks in hard but right now...I am tan, relaxed, and a little lighter. I always exercise better when on vacation...it is just easier to get to. ahhh.....all the better.

Ok...just picked up the box set of Magnolia Electric Co. Love it. I have to say...the older I get...the more I appreciate alt country. I guess my days of screaming Ministry tunes in my car may be over.....well....maybe they will come up once in a while now. Getting older does have the advantage that you slow down a bit to look around as things used to just blur by. I never had the sense enough to look around as I ran shit over.

I am worn out this week. Kids activities.....work, side business, wife on a business trip....exhausted. In the meantime, watched the US Open last weekend and into Monday. Great watch. Watched the end of the Lakers....I am a professed Kobe hater. Saw the Incredible Hulk.....it was ok...Ed makes a better Bruce Banner and Liv Tyler did a credible job. I still can't get over how...well how CG the Hulk always looks. I don't know...maybe I am still a sucker for the old TV show with Lou Ferigno painted green. Give me the pumped up on steriods actors please.

Been in a alt country mood lately. Can't stop listening to Wilco, Neko Case, and Magnolia Electric Company. Great stuff.....it is more the roots of Country than the pop inspired crap that hits the country airwaves today. These guys need to do more Willie and Cash and less Ackie Breakie Heart crap. Ok....done.

Out....have a nice weekend.

Ok....two things.

First.....bought the Breeders new CD. I enjoyed it. Well paced....these people are my age and have come to appreciate music that isn't always full boar on the go. They come outta their shell on occassion to rock it....but this CD says...enjoy....listen.....have a glass of wine. Oh and every once in a while....cut loose. This is what you have to do when you are 40 and over...you can go out and have fun....you just don't recover like you used to.

Next bought Control....the movie about Ian Curtis of Joy Division. Amazingly, I did not have to go pay shipping fees for it etc.....it was in general release and there were like 10 copies at my local Best Buy the date of its release. WHAT!!!! Alright...so anyway....I think the movie does a great job painting a pciture of the formation of the band, Ian's early personal life, and getting us through to thier first successes with the release of Unknown Pleasures. Thought it cool that the they allowed the actor, Sam Riley, to sing the songs when they cut to concert footage etc. The man did a great job with Ian's clumsy dancing and dark singing styles. Everyone always talks of Walk the Line as a great film/documentary on an artists life. This one, though made with lesser known actors and I am sure with a much smaller budget, was every bit as good as the larger hollywood type productions. Really a must see for fans of the band.

Also, I would love to see another perspective on this as this was based on a book by Deborah Curtis and you really have great insight as to what is going on within her household.....but the love triangle that appears to have contributed to Ian's suicide is a little flat. You don't get a perspective from the Annik Honore side of things. Anyway....neat film.

I saw this video on YouTube today and it really struck me again. I miss Belle & Sebastian. The first cd I picked up was Fold your Hands and then I saw them in Atlanta a few years later with my brother. That show was at the Tabernacle (great venue btw). Of course, after that I went on a run and own everything they ever put out including a dvd. gotta be top 5 all time in my favorite band list.

Oh...and while in Georgia...they on the spur of the moment played "sweet home alabama" and had a girl from the audinece come on stage to sing it. Talented musicians....did it on the fly..impressed me to no end.

The model.....this song kills me everytime.

Went to the beach with the familia this weekend. It was awesome....rained on Saturday but we got a little beach time in late in the day. Otherwise it was a sit on the porch while it poured and read day. It was like 77 degrees with a breeze and wet. I love days like that.....I get soooo much reading done....oh and I took a nap. That rocked. Then I went out to dinner and had some yummie Italian food and a great bottle of wine.

Rode bikes and stayed on the beach all day Sunday and I did not burn. Umbrella baby...when you know it is time to cover up. More Italian food...

All in all a successful weekend. And....now.....back to the grind! crunch crunch crunch.

Oh and I bought a new phone.....got pix.

Ok....I am tired now. Did the 2.5 hour drive back and forth to Atlanta twice this week. Going to Atlanta is not bad....it just sucks to drive down there to do a 3 hour face to face and then turn around and come back. Well, at least the traffice monster did not eat me. No updates lately.....not much exercise lately. I feel FAT.

Got into a massive fight with my wife because of a comment about another woman that she works with. I confess that I am an idiot because my wife is getting older and is more concerned about her looks now than ever before. Oh well....all I can do is apologize and move on.

I was in a bracket pool for March Madness......well.....let's just say that I was destroyed over the weekend. Bye Bye cash.

Later on.
