Time for a new journal as the the previous one is several weeks old.
My vacation went well, and I met all of my goals for the 9 days off I had:
1) Relax: I had at least 3 days where I slept for 10 hours or more. Very nice.
2) Spend little money: I didn't go anywhere, so that didn't cost me anything, and not driving 80 miles a day for work saved quite a bit on gas money. I did buy the new 18th anniversary release of Pearl Jam's "ten", and downloaded the whole album on Rock band as well, so that put a little dent in the wallet. All in all it was kind of a wash though.
3) Beat at least 2 of the campaigns on Left 4 Dead on Expert difficulty: I managed to beat all 4 on expert, so I exceded my goals.
My week back at work was a little rough, I didn't want to be there. But me and JennyLou are already planning another vacation in May; this time to Nebraska and South Dakota.
That's about it for this update, anything new or entertaining going on with y'all?

I'm in a bit of pain lately. I have several impacted wisdom teeth that have caused quite a bit of overcrowding and damage recently. I see the dentist tomorrow morning, but that won't be to take care of the main problem, which will require a visit to the oral surgeon. I have worked my way through a large bottle of Ibuprofin in record time
In good news; I am on vacation next week! It'll be a stay at home and relax vacation, but that's what I need right now. My brother's birthday is also next week, so I will be cooking him up something good for sure. I will also be watching some Celtics on tv, playing Left 4 Dead and enjoying "Let the Right One In", which came in the mail today.
Other than a lazy vacation and some discomfort, there isn't a lot going on right now. How are you all doing?

Hey there kids, how goes it?
It's been quiet around here for the last week. But there have been some developments on different fronts:
JennyLou returned back from Nebraska, and we had a nice day just hanging out before she had to start an 8-day stretch of work to make up for the time off that she took.
I have tickets to see the Watchmen with some friends next friday, but other than that it will be a weekend for me and Jenny to relax in pajamas together.
Both me and the little lady have decided to move the wedding back a bit. We're thinking of next spring, giving us more time to be responsible adults and take care of our present finances before getting involved in an expensive endeavour like our intended pirate-themed extravaganza. It also gives me an extra year to gather props and costume bits for the party. For those planning to attend, we'll keep you updated with the info as it approaches.
Since jenny wasn't around yesterday (Friday), and I wasn't working, I decided to dedicate my day to finally knocking Bioshock off of my to-do list. I finally beat that game at 3:54AM. Well worth the effort, I can't wait for a sequel.
And hey, since a lot of other people have been doing it, and I have nothing else to do right now, here's one of those "25 things" lists for me:
1. My birth was a real trial for my mother; due to her health issues, I was only supposed to be a 2-3 pound premature baby. There was a special delivery team present to care for me upon my delivery. They weren’t necessary. After 19 hours of intense pushing and pain, one of the brilliant doctors finally figured out I was too big to be delivered naturally. I was a short, 8 pound bowling ball of a child, and a c-section was required because my shoulders were too wide.
2. In the process of delivering me by C-section, the doctor cut my shoulder with a scalpel. I still have the scar, though it is faint and has stretched to considerable size.
3. I suffer from a social anxiety disorder, and going out and meeting new people, or just going out, can sometimes be a very uncomfortable situation.
4. I sometimes buy random little things for people. It makes me happy.
5. The first club show that I ever went to was Morbid Angel, in a club at in Salisbury Beach. I was not a fan of the music; I just went to see a friend’s band that was playing earlier. The crowd was extremely violent and nasty (I saw skinheads severely beat several people into a bloody mess). It sucked.
6. My first real concert was Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson back in 1994. It was at a small venue in Boston and it was a much better experience.
7. I once tried bi-weekly therapy and medication to help with my anxiety. I hated the side-effects of the meds and the therapy wasn’t very helpful, so I decided to do things on my own.
8. Because of the social anxiety, I did not lose my virginity until much later than most.
9. I have been at the same job for 11 ½ years; I am a third shift supervisor at a residential program for emotionally disturbed and at-risk boys.
10. I lost both my parents; my mother to Marfan’s Syndrome a week before I turned 17, and my father to AIDS when I was 23.
11. The disease that led to the early death of my mother, grandfather and uncle did not affect my generation. My brother, my cousin and I are all symptom-free of Marfan’s, though we could pass it on to our children because we are genetic carriers.
12. My favorite movie is Jaws.
13. I was very briefly in the army reserves. Due to health issues with my father, they allowed me to become an inactive reservist to be called up only in national emergency. I don’t really consider myself as having been in the military, since my experience was very brief (I left only a few months after I completed Basic Training and A.I.T), and pales in comparison to those who have actually had to deal with sacrifice because of the military. Still, it was an incredible learning experience.
14. I have never been out of the country.
15. I snore, quite loudly if some people are to be believed.
16. I am competent in the kitchen and can make a mean chili, a tasty jambalaya and some fine pulled pork.
17. Farscape is my favorite TV show.
18. I have an excellent memory for certain things; especially old conversations that I can quote back decades after they happened. I also have a lot of odd trivia knowledge stored in my noggin’ as well.
19. I am fortunate in that I have many good friends.
20. When I was younger, I would draw a lot and dreamed of being an illustrator when I grew up. Most of my friends are much better artists than me though, so it kind of took away from that dream.
21. I hate sleep. The idea of spending a 3rd of my life in bed is deeply disturbing to me.
22. The longest I have ever worked was about 36 hours straight. I was stuck at work due to a blizzard that had the highway to my house declared a state emergency zone, and they needed the coverage due to all the people who were stuck at home.
23. I am going to marry JennyLou.
24. My X –box live tag is Captain Needles.
25. My name is Gerard, but I go by Jerry.
Tell me something interesting, I have a lot of time on my hands to read this weekend!

It's going to be a quiet, relaxing weekend around the old homestead.
JennyLou is in Nebraska for the week visiting with friends and relatives, and I decided to take a long weekend to relax and putter about the house in my pajamas while eating steak and drinking root beer.
Once Jenny is home, the serious wedding planning business is starting. Because we are throwing it all together ourselves, we have a lot of leeway for some things. We still need to find a good spot to actually have the wedding at soon though.
But for other things we get to take it slow. I'll be hiring my boss and his sister to cook the buffet style food. I will also be cooking quite a bit. We're not really spending anything on flowers, with the exception of Jenny's bouquet, which she is going to put together herself. The biggest expense will be the costumes for this pirate event, so we'll see how much that bites the wallet. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about putting this thing together.
That's about it for now. I may go to sleep, or I may go play Left 4 Dead...not sure yet. I will definitely go have another whoopie pie for a snack first though.
How are all of you doing? Any big plans for the immediate future?

I'm tired a lot lately, which means it's about time for a vacation soon. I have some vacation time I need to use up soon anyway, so I might take a week off in March to just chill around the house and relax.
I bought a new HDTV for the bedroom yesterday. Hooray to me for finally moving into the 21st century. It makes killing folks on the X-Box live that much nicer. Mostly playing Left 4 Dead and COD World at War lately. My X-box live tag is Captain Needles; feel free to contact me, just let me know who you are.
Other than that, all is pretty quiet right now. Jenny is sick, so I'm trying to dodge the germs as best as I can. Hopefully she is better by Satruday, which we decided will be clean around the house and eat steak day. Where me, Jenny and my brother putter around the house taking care of a lot of little projects, while I cook us steak for dinner in the brand new cast-iron skillet I just bought.
Not much else going on. How are you all doing?

"Everythings gonna be alright.
Everythings gonna be alright.
Everythings gonna be alright.
Everythings gonna be alright.
Everythings gonna be alright.

-Bob Marley
I'd like to think the above words are true, Bob was a pretty wise man after all. But sometimes things fall apart, and there is nobody but yourself to blame.

It's quiet lately. I'm pretty tired from the holidays and the overtime I did the last few weeks, and maybe it's time to plan a late winter vacation. By vacation I mean a nice week of peaceful at home time. After some much needed rest, it'll be crunch-time for planning the wedding.
We're aiming for the first of August, but we are still not sure of exactly what we want to do (other than a pirate themed, casual wedding), or what we can pull off. Then we have a reception in South Dakota to plan, for all her friends and relatives that won't be able to make the trip to Mass.
It's kind of miserable outside lately. I like the snow, don't get me wrong. Some people hate the winter, but for me, I would be lost without my four New England seasons. It's just been too icy and raw lately. I suppose it is good weather to motivate me to stay inside and help with the wedding ideas...
...and play left 4 dead on the 360 of course.
So, what's new for you?

I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year.
It's sad to see that so many of my friends are going through rough times right now. I hope this new year is a better one for you and yours. I'm looking forward to many great things, not the least of which will be me and JennyLou's Pirate Wedding extravaganza, and the many friends we hope will share it with us.
So, bring it on 2009.

Today was a good day:
-Me and JennyLou decorated the tree
-All of the stockings were hung (even 2 for the cats)
-I had a nice sammich (creton and cheese on wheat with mayo)
-I've been listening to some Run D.M.C and Gary Hoey holiday music
-I purchased the Cthulhu guitar in Rock band 2
Not a bad day at all.
How about you? What's up?
