Life is good lately.
We went to a nice outdoor wedding in Maine last weekend. It poured the whole time, but it was just perfect given the couple getting married both love nature and teach people wilderness survival skills for a living. So it seemed right for mother nature to have a little say in the ceremony.
The wedding was right in Wells, Maine, a place me and Jenny might have to go visit again, it seemed very nice.
The only other thing to get excited about right now is that I am going to be working on a Zombie anthology comic! One of my good friends is the art director for the book, and they are getting writers to do 10 page stories to be matched with artists who will illustrate the stories. There is no money in it, just the chance to be published would be great fun.

Things are good lately. I had a blast at my brothers gallery opening this past Friday, and the after-party type gathering at the Gulu Gulu cafe was a great time with old friends as well.
Tonight I'm gonna mellow out and play the hell outta Batman: Arkham Asylum, and just relax for a night. Next weekend we are off to Maine for a wedding, a campfire-side potluck wedding. Should be a nice time with old friends once again.

Things have been hectic lately.
I've done a lot of overtime recently, but I'm done with that for at least three weeks. The next month or so is just going to be too busy.
-Next week is my birthday, and me and Jenny will be heading down to Connecticut to visit friends for a long, quiet weekend.
-The week after that will be a small and enjoyable birthday celebration at home with some friends playing Rock Band, eating good pizza and watching a UFC pay-per-view.
-The next weekend is the opening of my brothers gallery show with a good friend of both of ours. He's been busting his ass putting a lot of new work together lately, and I"m happy to see him get some time in one of our local galleries.
-The weekend after that will take me and Jenny up to Wells, Maine for a crunchy, outdoorsy potluck wedding. It should be fun...or mosquitos will leave us for dead in the wilderness.
After all of this, I will strongly consider going back to doing overtime to save for our spring move to New Hampshire, but I might need a loafing weekend to rest up for a good stretch of extra work. We'll see.
Not a lot else going on right now, just enjoying what relaxation time I can get. Kind of excited about moving in the spring, and I really would like to travel more next year. I will make it to the Spring Gala one of these damned days!

Sleep has been very poor lately. This is kind of normal for a third shift worker to hit a stretch of insomnia and fatigue.
In good news though, it's JennyLou's birthday! So go wish her a nice day if you could.

New Jouranl Time!!
A lot has gone on recently, so here is just a short recap of things:
1) I'm not feeling well lately, but it is to be expected. For the last month I've been caring for sick kids at work, some of whom had the swine flu. There is only so long you can sit in front of rooms full of ill people, taking their temps 3 times a night before you get sick as well. I only have a mild bug though, I did not get the big pig.
2) Me and Jenny decided that we will be moving to the Manchester, NH area come the new year. I don't know that area as much as I'd like, but it'll be interesting getting to know the locale.
3) I now have to do all of my online stuff with our dated little gateway laptop. In three days we lost both Jenny's and my computer to virus' or complete catastrophic breakdowns. Some time next week a friend of my brother will attempt to use the corpses of both computers to build one functonal frankenstein PC. It is agreed that the next computer we buy will be a Mac to avoid future episodes ike this.
4) The end of the summer/beginning of fall will mark 10 years since my father has passed away, and 16 years since my mom passed away. Me and my brother are thinking of a memorial dinner. Nothing stuffy or sad, but ass-kicking and a celebration of two people who blessed me with a wonderful, even if financially poor childhood.
5) Me and Jen are going to try and make it to South Dakota for thanksgiving this year. It'll be my first time trying to battle the holiday travel crowd; wish me luck.
6) I'm on facebook now, hit me with a PM if you want to contact me there.
That's all for now. If I neglected to get back to people lately, I apologize, but it has been hectic and internet access was spotty at best.

Post-Vacation Journal, now with pictures!!!
So me and JennyLou have been back from our vacation for a few days now. We stayed with her best friend's family in Nebraska and her mom's house in South Dakota. It was one of the most relaxing vacations I've had in a long, long time.
Jen's best friend has 4 great kids, and for someone like me who works all the time with emotionally disturbed and violent kids, it was wonderful to just sit on the floor and play with some cheerful little kids for a while. We're hoping to have a similar trip back out west in the fall. And now for some pictures...
This is me and Jenny on the back porch of her mom's house...

This is the falls in downtown Sioux Falls as taken from the observation tower...

Me in front of the falls...

This is Sammy; Jen's mom's dog. She's 14 years old and pretty awesome...

Jenny and her best friend Jammie forced me and Jammie's husband Shawn to play one of those lame "perfect match" dating board games aimed at 12 year old girls in the 80's. Here I am with Jammie, unhappily taking part...

We went to the zoo in Omaha, and it was pretty damned awesome. Zoos are more fun when you bring little kids along with you I've learned. This is the grizzly bear who was nice enough to look at my camera when I said "Hey Mr. Bear". I think he obliged because I did not yeall at him like a lot of really obnoxious people at the zoo seemed to do. I was polite, so he gave me a good picture...

And this is Jenny being cute by taking a picture of yours truly on one early morning. I was having a hard time because every day we were on vacation I was waking up at about the same time my body is used to going to sleep.

So, all around a good time out west. Any good stuff happen while we were gone? Any good vacation stories to share?

Not a lot has gone on lately; I've just been working some overtime to earn a little extra cash for vacation.
Me and JennyLou are leaving on Thursday the 14th to head out for about ten days of visiting with her friends and family in Nebraska and South Dakota. In the three years or so since she moved out here, there are still a lot of folks out west who have not met me yet, so we are trying to get a lot of those introductions out of the way.
Personally, I am looking forward to the rest and being away from work for ten days. I don't often take a vacation because I need some time to rest; usually when I take some time off it is just to use some time away from work I have accumulated and need to use before the end of the fiscal year. This vacation I need for the rest, and when I remember how restful the last trip to South Dakota was, I just hope I get a similar recharge.
In other news; I recently watched "Let the Right One In". I loved the movie. One of the best horror movies, or any kind of movies I've seen in a while. As someone who is a professional childcare worker, I am usually very critical of how kids are written and behave in movies. The kids in this movie were very realistic to me.
So after watching the movie I purchased the novel. It was a perfect compliment to the movie; filling in relationship and background questions while not be contrary to anything in the movie at all. I highly recommend both the book and movie, though I would say that if you have some real problems reading a book that is pretty detailed in dealing with a character who is a fucked up, codependant, murderous pedophile then stick with the movie.

So in an effort to get back into shape, I've hopped back on the exercise bike. I haven't exercised at all since playing basketball with my friends last summer when I ruptured my MCL in my arm, so I was worried about how I would feel.
Not bad it turns out.
I did about 20 miles on the bike yesterday, and 40 miles today. My legs feel a little shakey but they've always been strong so they will be fine by tomorrow morning. I forgot how much I enjoy the pain of good exercise.
I plan on playing a lot of basketball this summer, as well as joining my friend's MMA class every week. Throw in a few gym visits here and there and I should be much healthier by the end of summer.

Ugh. Just had three impacted teeth removed...and I woke up just as they were finishing the last one. Not feeling so hot right now. I'm starving and I have to wait a bit before I can eat some soup and pudding. I really want a fucking pizza though.
I'm feeling very *meh* with a side of *Groooaan*
But we at least ordered our plane tickets for our vacation next month, so I've got that going for me.
