the only way I could think of to get that kind of money...legally, mind you....is to do a research study. my roommates do them on occasion, but the fact that you're hurt might preclude that.
it's generally not the best bargain, but one option is the rent a center pay to own...or just flat out rent...option. you'll over pay, but you'll have a television.

when I moved to Camp Pendleton I found a 42" lcd for $400 on craigslist being sold by someone who was PCSing away. pretty good deal, that.

The only legal way I know is to get a loan

52" Sony LED at the BX here for $1499. Now my math might not be the greatest but 1499 < 2000.

How about the 1st SGT? Mine might tell me to have a bake sale, but yours might point you in the direction of a no/low interest loan. Some sort of soldier's assistance fund? We have one in the AF for "emergencies." Might be able to work it out under a Quality of Life issue.
