So recently I got a chance to shoot a set for a hopeful. In fact, for my girlfriend who has been talking about posing for SG since before I met her. I wanted to wait until her set was up before I posted anything, but check her out TeslaGirl's set "Playing Games."
I know I've got to do more work with lighting now that I've got a chance to get some criticism on it. I'm used to shooting still life and landscapes, and most of that food showplates that I can control lighting over a small area pretty easily. Shooting a model in a room is a lot tougher. If you want to leave comments more particularly on the camera work, lighting, backdrop, etc. on the set you can here, if you want to leave her comments go ahead and do it on the set.
Thanks.

My new camera came in the other day. I'm excited.
Canon Digital Rebel XT. Got an adapter so I can use my lenses from my old 35mm on it (though without the auto-focus) and and extra quick release plate for my tripod so I can switch them out on the fly. It's gonna be awesome!
Now to try and get off the photographers hopeful list and do something with it....

An AP article on Yahoo! News:
Letterman, Leno return Wednesday Night
"Comedy Central's topical nightly comedies, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, will return Monday without striking writers."

Happy new year!
And it's an exciting time. I'll be getting my new camera soon, and with any luck start shooting again.
My old digital is dying, slowly. I end up having to turn it off and back on again to get it to focus a lot because the motor is slipping on the zoom lens. My new one will be a nice DSLR, which I can thankfully fit my lenses from y SLR camera on, so I can swap them out as necessary. w00t!
Now I just need to get started on shooting photo sets here....

I'm finally working on my own project. I've been making corsets, costumes, shirts, pants, and applying patches for everyone I know the last few months, and this time I get to do something for me. My goal was to have it done by Christmas, failing in that by the end of the year. With less than 24 hours to go, it's going to take a lot of work to pull it off.
But I'll have a winter coat that I can be happy with for a change, and finally have something that I've made that I wear. An odd concept it seems, since I always make things for everyone else.

Finally, vacation.
It's not really much of a vacation, I still have shit loads of work to do, but at least my schedule clears up from classes for a few weeks to make it possible to do the silly things like sleep and play video games. I might even get things done for myself for a change.
Thankfully all the Christmas shopping is done. Everyone's all set, I just have to go halfway across the country and deliver it. Yay.
I'm going to nap now.

So as if my life wasn't hectic enough, I've taken on being the sous chef for the vegetarian banquet in January at school. We're actually going to do a fully vegan menu, instead of just the lacto-ovo vegetarian menu we are required to prepare. It's going to be a blast. I have about 100 pages of paperwork ahead of me, including recipes, nutritional analysis, costing, and scheduling...
I'm going to try to work it out so that on the day of the banquet, I'll be running the front of the house, and I'm sure our chef can handle the back of the house herself.

Who would have guesses that 20.5 credit hours was so much work?
Not only do I have class on a Friday night (which I hate), I have to go in an hour early just to print off the lecture notes because there are so many!
Ugh.

I had to fix my truck... again.
Nothing major, but it's just one more thing that makes me go "well it'll survive a few more months."
I really should replace it. The cost of repairs hasn't quite hit the cost of new car payments, but It'd probably be easier. Especially if I have any problems over the winter, it'll be too cold to work on it so I'll have to take it to a shop (I have no garage to work in at my apartment). That'll get costly very quickly.
I've been pricing replacement vehicles. I want a Hybrid Escape, but failing in that a regular one will do, but I've decided that no matter what I get next it has to have all wheel drive and a manual transmission. I like the ease of driving my truck right now but I miss shifting. And all wheel or four wheel drive comes from driving a two wheel drive pickup for the last few years and really wanting something that holds the road better. Especially in a New England winter.
Oh well, time for bed so I can get up and cook for everyone on Thanksgiving II tomorrow.
