Why I am voting Obama
As many of you know from my other blogs and bulletins I am strongly opposed to our continued involvement in Iraq. I do not believe the war in Iraq is making our country safer from terrorists which I believe to be the real enemy to Americans. I continue to believe that our resources are being drained from fighting against those that attacked us only to protect the special interests of certain political figures who have been shown to have questionable ties to certain large corporations that now recieve billions from Government contracts and oil profits. I think many of our basic rights have been systematically stripped away by the current administration without regard to the constitution or the wishes of the people. The time has come for Americans to stand up for what this country used to stand for and what I believe our military should be fighting for. We are a nation who's government has always been accountable to the people which makes us unique in the world as most governments have little or no accountability to the people they govern. My fear is that certain powers now have begun to damage that system and it is that system that makes America what it is at the core. We are a nation that exhaults freedom and justice, a nation that upholds equality and respect for others rights. I feel we are losing that and if we do not make careful decisions about the future leaders we may go the way of the Romans and collapse under the weight of our own corruption. I urge all of you to vote your coinscience and no matter who you prefer remember we are at a turning point in our history and what we do will make or break us as a nation
