True, I joined up in the first place all those years ago for the tits. But I stayed for the community. One by one though, the community faded away. Frankly, the only real substantive contributor anymore is FTR, yet he's shouted down over some of the most contrite bullshit by some CE regulars who don't contribute anything substantive of their own. I'm tired of it.
SG really had something approaching the level of GQ or Rolling Stone in terms of an excellent politics and culture section (Wil Wheaton!), but they flushed that away a few years ago when they (effectively) killed the Newswire. Now it's just a tits site with a boring forum. The only thing that really gets it moving are the hapless Internet trolls.
The random friend requests from SG Hopefuls are pretty annoying too. I've never talked or interacted with you, and we're not going to be friends either! Stop trying to pad your friend count. It's really pathetic.
Sometimes I post over on Forumopolis under the same name, and play Team Fortress 2 with some of those guys/gals as well. It's cool.

Ugh.... I'm so bored by SG anymore. CE is a shell of it's former self. I think the prediction of the forums dying off after the sweeping changes the staff made to the newswire have panned out to be true. The threads used to move at a mile a minute. Now it's a snail's pace.
