Saw Tom Petty last night, it was awesome.
JULY 29, 2010 @ 09:12 PM | NO COMMENTS

I've been trying to keep my journals updated, but it just ain't happening lately.
So, It's been a couple months since my last update. What's happened?
First of all, the Insurance job wasn't real. I don't mean in a "it wasn't an offer I could consider" way, I mean in a "there wasn't even a fucking job" way. They decided that they didn't need to replace the guy who was leaving. I'm fine with not getting the position, but it's a little frustrating to have taken a day off and driven up there for nothing. Oddly though, that non-job has been replaced by 3 other potentials. A girl I danced with a in a salsa club in January text'ed me to say that they had some underwriting positions that were opening up. She's gonna email me as soon as the jobs are posted. Weird, huh?
We had the 4th of July not to long ago of course. I do the fireworks show for my town, for the last few years. Sadly, my local town has been experiencing an odd spate of *people being shot in the head*, and put a 9pm curfew in place. Know what that does to your humble pyrotechnician? It forces him to shoot fireworks in the daylight. Seriously, the sun had barely dropped below the tree line, they were *barely* visible. It's certainly nice to pack up in the light though...
After the show was interesting. I got an unwelcome reminder that the job is deadly, and will take you if you slip for even a second. Luckily nobody got killed, but I could easily have wound up cleaning dead pyro out of my shirt. It's an odd thing, but when someone gets a certain amount of experience in this field they seem to get the feeling that they can't get hurt. Like no matter what stupid thing they do, their 5 years doing shows will protect them when they stick their head directly over an unfired cake, while holding a lit road flare. It won't, and ever year we lose people because of that.
In less depressing news, two weeks ago, Alexis and I ran the Merrell down and dirty 10k.

This was a blast, seriously the most fun race I've done. Our time wasn't great (2 hours), but it was mostly trail running, and it was hot as hell out. The current plan is to train for next year, if we can cut that down to 1 hour I'll be happy.
Ok, this is already twice as long as it was supposed to be, and I need to be on the job in north philly at 8am... Maybe I'll get another post in soon.

had a review at work today. I was offered a 6% raise, negotiated it up to 12.5% with another review (and potentially, another raise) in 3 months.

I guess I must be doing something right...

Bah, this is gonna be a rough week.
FEBRUARY 21, 2010 @ 11:49 AM

Just the other week I was thinking to myself "I should check in on SG, make sure Sean hasn't let the place to go pieces without me around to keep things in line", and what do you know, a few days later my membership was magically re-activated. I love it when that happens.

So it's been what, three years? Here's what you missed. Got a new job, bought a house, step-mother went crazy, got a girl, lost a girl.
Ok, so now you're up to speed, what've you been up to?

The weekend is here, and I don't have a single plan... After how the week has gone I don't think I mind that at all.

I have the house to myself again for the weekend, and I haven't quite decided if I'm even going to leave it.

If only there was some way to get this whole "Easter" thing pushed off to a more convenient time.

I just haven't felt like writing stuff for other people to read lately.

Admission: I love the weather we're having. Seriously, I love it when things just go totally batshit crazy in the world and nothing makes sense.

Life is good these days.
For a few years there I seemed to be stagnating. Everything that I did was the same stuff that I had done before, no growth, no change, no excitement. Sometime recently I seem to have broken free of that I'm happy to say.

Just got a phone call from Tucson, apparantly the past I thought I had laid to rest has risen once more, like a demonic zombie of youth's stupidity.

Once again there is a warrant out for my arrest, for something that happened 7 years ago. I've gone through steps to get this straightened out at least two or three times now, and every time it keeps on coming back. I swear I'm going to be 50 and still getting a call every 10 years or so telling me that the city of Tucson has found new things to charge me with, and is still mailing the notices to my address in old town (which I moved from long ago) as their legally mandated "attempt to contact".
I'm not sure if there's a reward but anyone who needs some quick cash can call the Tucson, AZ courts and find out if they want. If you promise to split it with me 50/50, I'll even go quietly ;-)
