Tonight was the king of fucking stupid nights at work.

I got in at 2:50 and immediately my boss tells me there is a guy waiting to have someone help him with his luggage. So I take the cart out to this dude in the parking lot, load it up, and take him and his wife upstairs. Two minutes later he comes down complaining about how uncomfortable the bed is. So I give him a better, nicer room. Same thing...so he decides to leave.
So I help him get all his fucking shit downstairs...and he comes in saying he needs some kind of proof stating he didn't end up staying the night.
Argh.

So then this dude calls to inquire about a room for October 8th. I tell him all the details and he is like "So I can book it online?"
I say "Well, I am talking to you now, I can book it for you..."
He says "I don't like giving my credit card number over my cell phone."
Really dude? You're fine with the internet...but not the phone?
So then he calls back and he complains that the thing he got emailed back from us had his full credit card number on it....and his 'site' isn't secure.
Fucking paranoid much?

Then my boss was arguing with me telling me the totals from the group that stayed this past weekend were not correct...even though they are...
but no...don't listen to the dude who has been doing the audit for 7 fucking years and actually knows the computer...
why would you do that?

And I got home to a text from my landlord (phone was home.)
I guess she wanted to talk to me (God dammit...) about something. Hopefully not the fucking foreclosure again. She said it was alright and if it's not...

I am DONE tonight.

As frustrating as that day sounds, I'm afraid the credit card dude was right - bad form to have the full number on a receipt these days, and very bad form for the site taking the cc not to be https. I'm speaking as one who's had his credit card number stolen; I'd be the same way. Sorry man.

Hope the foreclosure does settle properly. Fucking bankers are wankers.

email is as secure as a postcard - actually less. There are copies of email on the server that sends it, the server that receives it (not just the user's account, I'm talking in the server's cache) and places in-between (it is trivial to intercept a transmission and get a copy). That's why you'll usually see 'your credit card ending in xxxx' or whatever.

Is it a privately designed system? I'd complain to your vendor - tell them that it's 2012 and that's 1998 behavior. Seriously.

But, I meant it, I can see how it'd make a bad day worse.
