So I emailed the dude back about the house and told him unfortunately I can't take it...and he's acting like he's all pissed off.
His exact response was "Well, Suzi and I are crushed thinking we could sell or rent to someone we thought could work with what we had. I think we are going to contract with the real eatate co. we had contacted once before. Thanks for your interest and let me know before Monday when I call the agent if there's any way to work out some way to get you in the house and make it liveable while you pursue your "dream". Talk to ya soon."
I was just as crushed. I was so excited at the prospect of a house and land that I was choking back tears on the drive home. (No joke...but I am fine now.) Also, putting dream in quotations just seemed like a dick move.
We went back up yesterday and looked at the place, and there is actually a lot more damage than I originally thought. There is rot near the roof, tons of mold, and a big patch OUTSIDE the house where the shower is that is water damaged. He's asking $160K for it to start...
I've seen 3 bedroom NEW houses for $90K. Sure they don't have 10 acres, but they are still quite usable.
I'll continue to get my shit in order and one day I will find an actual decent house.
Speaking of which, I paid off one of my credit cards entirely last night. Such an awesome feeling.
