So I've been living in Cleveland for the past month. I ran out of money and couldn't afford to pay off last quarters school bill, so I couldn't sign up for the winter term. I did apply for financial aid for the next school year though, so I will be returning to Portland sometime over the summer. I got my old job back bartending and serving in Cleveland Heights and am doing an alright job of saving up some cash, but I think that I'm going to need to get a second full time job so I don't have to work when I go back to school. It's been fun seeing all my old friends out here, but I do wish I was in Portland. Maybe I'll take some pictures and add them here later. I'm also going to try to update my blog more now, since life without transportation or schoolwork has left my afternoons very boring.

I just got back a couple of days ago from a trip riding through the southwest with my Dad and his friend Keith. Good times were had by all and while I did take quite a few interesting pictures this time around. I finally got around to grabbing my pictures from last years trip including the stop I made in Cleveland afterwards. These pictures were a little more interesting so I decided to upload these first with a little recap. As I'm sure you're all aware of, you have to right click and select view image to see the whole thing.

Our first day of riding around sucked pretty bad. There was a huge storm from a hurricane that had just passed through Texas and we spent a good 8 or so hours driving in the rain trying to make it up to Durango, Colorado.

The next day, the weather cleared up, and we headed NE of Durango into the Rockies. When we got near the top of the mountain it started to get a little chilly, so We decided to pull over for a minute, smoke a cigarette, put on our jackets, and take a couple of pictures.

We continued on for another hour or so around the mountains, then I saw this nice clearing with a dropoff and we pulled off again for some more pictures.

The next day, we drove into Utah, where there was this really cool red dirt all over the place, and alot of these towering rock formations.

At the end of that day, we rode back down to Arizona and spent the night in Flagstaff. In the morning we took a route west of flagstaff and through a couple small towns in the area before heading back down into Phoenix and Tucson.

A couple of days later, I flew into Cleveland, where there was much drunkenness and debauchery.

I was going to write down some individual comments for these pictures but I'm feeling lazy now, so that's not going to happen.

I'm so sick of this fucking country. Our constitution provides us every opportunity to elect who we choose and gives us a check and balance situation so that if we accidentally fuck up and elect a retard, he can't ruin the system on his own. I'm so sick of people complaining about Bush all the damn time. While he is admittedly a very poor choice for an ambassador since he seems to only care about his own self and not at all about anyone else, except maybe sweet zombie Jesus, he honestly wields no power at all without the backing of the senators and the congressman. All I ask is that people put a little bit of thought into who they want leading them. Look into who you are electing, and maybe once in a while choose a wildcard instead of just choosing who you think will have the best chance of beating whichever party you dislike. It's not about republicans and democrats, it's about who serves your best interests, and somehow that idea got lost along the way.

I think it's time for a haircut again. I hate having to take a shower first thing in the morning before I get anything done, not that I don't usually anyways, but I like having the option.

I friend of mine posted this a while ago. A little sappy perhaps, but there were a couple of points I thought were very true and made me a little nostalgic.

I'm finishing up my break now. I've spent the last 3 days trying to adjust my schedule so that I don't have to take an 8 A.M. physics lab, but I'm kinda stuck since I'm currently planning to get all my chem classes out of the way this summer with this 16 credit class that PSU is offering. That basically leaves me with next year being all engineering and anatomy, and the following two years with strictly physics and engineering. Either way it'll all be a pain in the ass, but I'll be a super employable nerd in the end.

I hate doing lab work. I'm almost done with the shit that's due tomorrow, but I've been lazy and wandering about the internet and playing my mandolin in an attempt to avoid the inevitable. On one hand I can stare at and analyze data, but on the other hand I'm only two clicks away from watching somebody get punched in the balls by a Japanese midget clown on crystal meth.

Yay! I should have a bicycle arriving in the mail either tomorrow or Monday, which makes me super pumped. Now I'm covered for my trips where I waver between walking and taking my motorcycle due to distance, plus if I end up riding it the 7 miles to school everyday I'll lose that extra ten pounds I've wanted to get rid of for a bit. I have lost about 20 pounds since I realized I was out of shape last winter, but I've really wanted to get back down to my high school weight of 160 and I've been floating at around 170 for the past month, so I hope this purchase works out for me.

Busy busy busy. School has been going pretty well so far, but I find myself not getting as much sleep as I'd like as of late. I'm taking PHY 211, MTH 253, and GER 101 this quarter, and while the german and calc have been pretty much a breeze for me, my physics class has been a big pain in my ass. My teacher is a nice enough guy, but he has a really strong russian accent and tends to be more about teaching directly out of the book then explaining things logically. Either one of those downfalls wouldn't be too bad on their own, but both of those combined makes his classes very boring, and I find myself having to read out of my book to learn the matererial. Fortunately though this is mostly offset by the very colorful man who has been teaching me calculus over the past couple of quarters. He does such a wonderful job of teaching the class that I have yet to open up my book in the 2 quarters I've had him. I wish I could bring him with me so he could teach me the 3rd year math stuff too, but unfortunately I only have him up through vector calculus, since I don't think he teaches applied linear algebra or differential equations.

This Saturday I'm moving in with my buddy James, Dovienya on the site, which should prove to be fun. While it's nice to live on your own and all, I miss having the company of a roommate, and my current pad is just costing me too much money to justify living here anymore.

I still have as of yet to receive my pictures from my trip to Cleveland to post up, but I'll try to get them up at some point in time or another, and if you're reading this Jake, please send me those songs and all the old pictures I lost to that link I sent you. I want to close down my account with the online storeage place to save me some cash, but I'm not going to do it until I get that stuff from you.

I got back into Portland yesterday after a grueling 17 hours in various airports and planes across the country. I had a kick ass time the last two weeks. I spent one week on a motorcycle going through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah, followed by another wonderful week wandering around Cleveland with my old running crew.

The motorcycle trip was a real nice time. I put on 1800 miles over 4 days just taking in the scenery and grabbing food and drinks from time to time with my dad.

The trip to Cleveland was the best part of it all however. It's been about 9 months since the last time I've visited and I was very surprised at how much can change over such a small period.

I have to run out the door fairly soon, but I'll post up another entry in a day or two with some more details from the trip including pictures.
