I call him the Dreamweaver. Impossible combinations. Shocking turns of logic dovetailed just so. He is both a force of nature and a power of the soul. Mercurius. The high and the low. The wet and the dry. The hot and the cold. Ridiculously sublime. The priceless treasure in the place you least wish to look.

I got an email early this morning from my mom's friend in Florida. (She uses me to email my mom 'cause my mom doesn't do computers.) She said her husband died early morning. I've known these folks since I was a kid. The husband had gone blind from arteritis last year. I wondered how to tell my mom this news. I finally decided just to say "Bert…died." no build up. That worked. She was sad but not crushed. She'd said all along how awful she thought it was to go blind. She chatted a while, finished her cigarette and went back to take a nap. She turns 91 this month.

Uroboros.

A snake biting its tail. Penetrating and receiving. Hermaphroditic. Self fertilizing. Self contained. Tail in head. End in beginning. Goal in Source. Object in subject. Knowing itself. Distinct but united. Opposites in one. Incubation. Occultation. Non-duality.

Open the mouth. Head and tail, female and male, top and bottom, first and last, etc. now separate. Creation. Manifestation. Multiplicity.

Who is normal? I would list Buddha, Lincoln, Isaac Newton, Leonardo. Most would probably think of these luminaries as beyond normal. For me they represent 'true normal' - 'normal' in a non-statistical sense, a kind of normal having more to do with what is possible than with what is probable. "I shall urge that there is here [in the genius] no real departure from normality; […] but rather a fulfillment of the true norm of man. […] The differentia of genius lies in an increased control of subliminal mentation."(FWH Myers)

King Crimson in my earbuds, "Two Hands." I lost my finger stabby thing, can't take blood sugar readings for a while. Guess I'll have to hit the drugstore for a new one. They're not too pricey. Now it's the Sex Pistols "Pretty Vacant." Oh my god who cares about all this trivia? I'd rather be high.

Oh dear, a blank page and a blank mind. Bowie in my earbuds. It's cold out again. I don't have a thought about politics. They're talking about Ben Ghazi and about the IRS harassing conservatives. I don't have an opinion about either of these things. Usually I would have something to say. My heart's elsewhere these days. Exploring the shadow, my own dark side, about which I would rather not speak publicly. How boring is that? But what if I fictionalized it? How might that begin?

He was always reluctant to speak of his own darkness, perhaps confusing it with Evil itself, an easy error.

Self-consciousness is a kind of repetition, the first reflection, the original copy. This - I am. This little self '... is not a pipe.' It is the intuition of self-identity, not that identity itself. It is the echo of the Ineffable, a vision of that Light which is in itself invisible.
