I apologize for that last entry being not only so lengthy, but for being up so long. A lot has been going on in my life, and I have been too busy to update.

I'll try to keep this neat and organized since I have so much to talk about...and it'll be image heavy.

I. School:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Last time I updated, I talked about how I had a matter of weeks until I finished my degree. Here are some highlights.

  • Unexpectedly getting two Presidential Awards from our University's President. The first was in "Outstanding Academic Acheivement", and the second was in "Outstanding Leadership" for all the work I do on campus. I was pretty stoked and surprised.

  • The Health Center threw me a graduation party that I almost had to miss because of a final. But, I whipped thorugh the final and made it there with minutes to spare. They had a ton of vegan food. It was cute.
  • Finals were actually less stressful than I had expected.
  • Graduation.

Graduation was amazing for me. I've never had a chance to walk across a big stage like that and receive a diploma, even though this is my 3rd degree. It was quite possibly the best day I've had in a very long time.

My university divides the graduation ceremonies up my college department in order to keep the length of the ceremonies down and keep parking manageable. College of Science was the last ceremony of the weekend, on Sunday, June 15th.

Some of my closes family and friends attended the ceremony and then we had a party afterwards at my favorite local Thai restaurant. Here are some pictures of the awesome day:

My cap was waiting to fall off my head all afternoon:

Bored, waiting to walk:

That's me with my arms in the air. Hooray!:

Post walk asshole-ness:

This is a picture of my half-assed cap that I made the night before. I had plans for a giant dinosaur doctor, but the cap was already having problems staying on my head before the decorations. So, I went with ghandi:

The little voice bubble says "Go Vegan! Save the Earth!" haha.

And, this is what was on my back:

And here are some party pictures:
I wore rolled up, torn jeans, a sleeveless shirt and some beat-up flats to walk in, and then changed into a dress and heels for the party to make my mom happy. I even shaved my fucking armpits and legs! ( mad )

Some of my favorites: ProductionDiva, me and Belljar:

Cutest hug picture ever: me and Belljar:

Some of my favorite GGO ladies: letigre, metalheadgrrl and ThrottleBitch.

Even Twinkie showed up with her boy and brought my vegan brain cupcakes!

Here's one of me making a speech, and subrosa trying to slyly stare at my ass:

During my speech, I talked about what I look for in women...

(just kidding, I'm just mega italian and cant control my hands. and for the record, I like them small.)

After the party, letigre got shit on by a bird. I had to get photographic evidence for sarahg.

fucking awesome day.

II. School, round 2:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I've already started my applications for the next round. I also just met the head candidate for the Dean of my dream school.

needless to say, I'm optimistic.

I know, I'm being vague. If you want more information, message me.

III. Work:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
As I detailed in my last entry, I've taken a research position on campus. Its not paid because we are running on a small grant, but I'll be doing some amazing stuff with HIV. I am stoked for this. We almost have the lab completely set up, and I'm almost done with my entry reports. I officially start on the 30th.

I also have to train someone new to take my place for the HIV Testing Clinic at the Student Health Center. I dont like who they picked, but whatever. I guess I'm a little territorial because I love that job and dont want to leave. Sad.

Now, I have to get a real job! yay!

IV. Social/ Love Life:

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
This is a really interesting aspect of my life right now. All the stress that I went through with the last quarter of school made my true friends shine. All the others couldn't hang. But, whatever. It makes me true friends that much more awesome.

Also, I'm completely single for the first time in....fuck. I cant remember when.
I've been in a polyamorous/open relationship for the past 3 years. We broke up a little over a month before my final exams, so I definitely was not amused. But, its fine. I survived, and we are still best friends, and we still live together. I was sad for like a week, and now I'm over it.

But, yea, so Im single now. Get your bids in while you still can, motherfuckers.

But, even more importantly!!!!!
My BESTEST QT EVER, sarahg is coming to visit! Yesssssssssss!

V. So what the fuck have I been doing in the meantime?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Fun stuff, for the first time in my life. I can't remember the last time I really had a break. A real break.

So, my graduation was last sunday.

Monday, Productiondiva came to keep me company while I house-sat a beautiful house and all the pets. Tons of pets. 9 chickens, a dog, a cat, a shitload of koi, and regular tank fish. Their neighbors have 2 llamas and 2 goats, also. I was in animal heaven.

Here is ProductionDiva feeting one of the Rhode Island Reds:

And here is the gaggle of llamas and goats:

After playing around on the farm and eating enormous deli sandwiches from Whole Foods, we picked up GoWings from the weirdest golf course ever and went to see the SF Giants play the Detroit Tigers and AT&T Park. We met up with belljar, subrosa, emma_treasure (who is so cute!), and oldrustedvagina and her husband.

We also saw my girlfriend there. She's one classy broad. I can't wait to snowglobe her tonight.

(dont even try to understand if you weren't there.

On Tuesday, I went to the Oakland Zoo with two of my friends, Hiroki and Julie. I bored them with my knowledge of zoological sciences.

This is me and sarahg:

On Wednesday, we had a big going-away party for Hiroki because he left for home (Japan) on Thursday morning. I dont have the pictures from this yet. It was a pajama party, and I looked like a douche.
At about 1AM, we decided we should whip out our acoustic instruments and play The Decemberists' The Crane Wife in its entirety. It was fantastic. 4 guitars, keyboard, percussion, and lead and gang vocals. It was so awesome.

Thursday, I laid in bed all day, updating my resume, applying for jobs, and reading books.

Friday, I went to Opera at the Ballpark with letigre and STITCH2. That was totally fun.

Last night, I went to my parents' house and talked about my future and had a wonderful discussion about LGBTQ rights and health care. I really love my parents more than anything else in this world. They are so amazing and so accepting.

VI. So whats next?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

  • SF PRIDE is this coming weekend (6.27-6.29).
  • Tons of dates!
  • Camping in MD in mid July. smile
  • possible trip to Portland, OR.
  • I was going to travel to Amsterdam, Paris, Brussells and other various European places, but I might have to put that on hold until after Interviews.

Anything else you want to know?

APRIL 30, 2008 @ 04:18 PM | 130 COMMENTS

Ok, ok, I'm still here. I was pretty upset and frustrated over some ridiculous shit, but since I got 45 comments of nothing but "no, dont go!" or "I'd only be ok with it because I have contact with you on other sites and/or in person", I've decided to stay.

I'll also admit that I've been slacking on updating my journal properly. I've been fucking busy, so don't give me shit.
I know, I always say I'm busy, but I truly am.

Lets see.... What can I talk about?

I'm about half way through my last quarter at my current educational institution. I'm not sure how I feel about this, especially since I just happen to make it the hardest quarter of my fucking life. Here's a tip: Physics 3, Biochemistry, and Organic Chemistry 3 + other courses should not be taken in the same quarter.

So, I'm up to my fucking neck in carbon.

I'm not really sure what I was thinking when I decided my last quarter's schedule. Maybe it was something along the lines of "i hate myself". Lets just say, I'm looking forward to June 15th.

thanks, necia.

On top of all that, I'm still holding down the STI clinic on campus. I've expanded it, and its pretty awesome now. Also, I've decided to take on the task of organizing a county recognized certified farmers' market for campus. We really need it, because Aramark is in charge of the food service and offers about 1 moderately healthy option a day, and nothing for vegans. They also force the resident students to buy these awful meal plans, so they have no choice but the eat through Aramark every day.

Plus, who wouldnt want to see this when walking to class:

mmmmm!

In other news, I've been offered a really sweet job position for (at least) the summer through the Immunology division of the Biological Sciences department on campus. I'll be doing extensive HIV research. I wont go into my nerdy explanation of all the rad stuff I'll be researching, but if you'd like to know, ask away!

I know you guys are probably tired of hearing about my adventures in school, but at this point, thats just about the only thing I have going for me.

I've been suffering from some pretty severe TMJ problems lately. Its getting to the point where I cant really open my mouth wide enough to take a bite of food, or to yawn. I think Sarahg threw a softball at my face, missed my eye, and accidentally whacked me in the jaw. Bitch. Learn to throw.

I really hope that I get to look like this lady if I have to get treated for my TMJ problems:

We are not codfish!

Oh!

I did give myself a rather colorful birthday present. I know, my birthday was months ago, but I haven't had a chance to take any pictures of it. Please excuse the shitty webcam picture. I'll get a better one, I promise.
Its not done yet though.

You might also notice that I've taken out my belly button piercings. They were ready to go.

I've been working pretty hard with the Gravity Faggot gang, and I finally have my own section up on the site! It launched a few weeks ago when we launched v2.0 of the whole website. So, if you're feeling kinda queer, or just want to see what Ive been doing, check out the Lesbionic Action Page (aka "The Screaming Uterus"). There's currently two interviews up:

&

on top of that, you can now buy a poster with my comic persona, Cassie Nova, on it!

In other news, I finally came out to my dad on Easter. He was really cool about it.

I have a huge exam on friday, so Im going to get back to Wittig reactions and other Organic Chemistry shit.

If you need me, I'll be making lemonade.

Thanks, neonframbozen.

p.s.- I'm kinda tempted to make my next entry a video blog somethingorotherblah blah. Thoughts?
