Well, apparently I've been banned from tagging, with no reason given. And I've gone over the FAQ and tagging guidelines and can't see anything I did that could possibly be determined as worthy of banning. I think I forgot to put quotes on my first multi-word tag, but that was shortly after the tags were first enabled, and I have assigned at least a dozen tags since. Even more pathetic, my post to support asking for the ban to be lifter, or at least some rationale for being banned to be provide got no response. None, nada, silence.
I love the concept and the site. I've tried a few other similar sites, but for casual use (I check in most days, but usually only get to reading groups, friends blogs etc and posting maybe once a week), I still think SG is generally the best. I've heard complaints before from other people of course, but here's my first experience with the chickenshit operation that sometimes seems to be making decisions at the top. Well, tagging certainly isn't important enough to me to drive me away. But the randomness of it, followed by the lack of response, annoyed me enough I thought I'd make my bitch public.

Well, I got the job! It's a bit scary going corporate, even for a smallish company. A big jump from academics. But I've been needing to be challenged - I just hope it is in a good way!
In other news we're having a nasty nor'easter this evening. The snow was really nice earlier today, but I had to drive 128S to Riverside to pick someone up this evening. The drive down was at the tail of the commute and high in the storm and just sucked! What normally would be a 25 minute drive took twice that and I was wiped out and had a headache by the time I got there. Thankfully I had nearly a half hour to unwind before his bus arrived. The ride home wasn't nearly so bad; the plows had been making a dent in the road, there was less traffic and it wasn't snowing much more.
Now though it has turned into a freezing rain. Freezing rain is about the only part of winter I really loath. I don't mind the cold, at least as long as it isn't too far below freezing. And I love snow. But cold rain, black ice and frozen snow bite. And we've had too much of that already this winter!
Time to have another beer, a clove, go grab a book and read by the fire!

Well, had a second round of interviews Friday, which went well enough that the head of HR emailed me to call her on Monday to discuss the next steps. Presumably that means we are officially into negotiations.
It's going to take a bit to pry me out of academics, but this is an interesting company. Big enough (100-ish employees) and with enough income to be fairly stable and past the worst of the start-up madness, but small enough to still be a little loose.
And when the world is at it's end, and the new race is assessing the relics of the old - I will shine on unto them, like an old queen 12". I shall never grow old, and I shall never die. For I am the sexiest man in Jamaica.
