Some more costume experiments for Metalhedz for my own character. I'm having fun with the idea that each character represents a different genre of rock music. So the characters go;
Ginge - Nu Metal
Tails - Pop Punk
Beki - Classic/Glam Rock
Skull - European Power/Folk Metal
Bones - American Metal
Chloe - Goth/Operatic Metal

Rehearsing this week to work on the scenes and filming in July hopefully. Really excited but at this point I just can't wait to have it finished and polished so I can begin to market it. I feel that over the past year we've really done well to take on all the feedback we got from the pilot and work on some great scripts now and the actors are fantastic at their parts.

Also beginning to move onto the next phase for my short film Perspective and now starting up casting with an aim to film that in August. I'm a bit nervous about this one, it's my first time doing such a serious subject so I'm really hoping that the script pulls off what I'm trying to accomplish.

And finally; as the time draws closer to Florida I'm getting more and more excited, especially now our park passes have arrived!

Oh and if you're interested in some of the writing work, I submitted a little piece to HitRecord, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's website in which he encourages lots of collaboration between unknown artists. My piece can be read here!

So it's been a fun and productive weekend thus far!

Friday night we had a cast night for Metalhedz for the newbies to get to know the oldies a bit better, we had pizza, chocolates, beer and watched Airheads for a bit of inspiration and fun!
Had a little bit of costume experimentation for two of our actresses;

Really fun night and it's great that the cast are really getting along with each other, should mean that come filming in July the chemistry on screen will really work.

Yesterday I did a spot of spontaneous photography with a friend for some artsy images;

Before spending the afternoon having my latest tattoo finished off!

Now I'm trying to find the motivation to actually do something with my day, so far not having much luck...

So I spent today being fed Corona's and telling how girls how to pose. It was a great day!

I was doing a photo shoot/music video for a friends band. As per usual nothing went to plan and so we were about an hour and a half late in starting, but once rolling everything seemed to be going great!
Though checking the footage and I'm not realising that my camera isn't that great at shooting in the dark. So much for the artsy look! I
I think with a bit of work in the editing suite it'll improve, but reshoots may need to be on the calendar. At least it was good practice for shooting in low-lighting and testing out what my DSLR can handle.

The photoshoot!

Thank the Gods for bank holidays! A nice three day weekend in which to relax and catch up with friends.

Booked our tickets for Discovery Cove for when we head over to Florida in September. Swimming with tropical fish and dolphins! I can't wait, I'm getting so excited for this holiday. The way work is sapping every ounce of happiness from my soul, I badly need this trip.
And a new job.

Got the first stage of my new tattoo done yesterday;

Wasn't actually as painful as I'd expected, just stung a bit. The colouring will be in a fortnight.

And finally, I got a little bored the other night and so made a fun little teaser poster for our upcoming web series Metalhedz

Productiveness! I am loving how creative I've been lately, it really helps distract from the soul-crushing depression that is my workplace right now. I'm still on the job hunt to no such luck. I don't really want to fill my blog with a rant so I'll just sum up how much I dislike my work with one, small example;
Last week I had to write up an apology letter to someone for the fact that they didn't pay attention to my e-mail.

I'll let that sink in for a moment.

Productiveness! So I've set up a wee Facebook page for my own production group (it's basically just me and on occasion my co-collaborator on artistic endeavours), this is so my friends can keep track of my various projects but also really I just wanted to design the logo;

So far my short film Perspective is getting some nice attention for the fundraiser. We've raised a small amount, I honestly didn't expect us to raise much anyway. You often find with crowd fundraising that unless you're a celebrity you're very unlikely to actually get much. Ironically those who don't need the money are the ones who always get it. Regardless of budget we will be making the film though, ideally we would have liked the funds to feed our actors and transport the equipment, and also due to the fact that entrance to Film Festivals is never cheap. But we won't let such obstacles stop us.
The film itself is still in pre-production with some tweaks to the script and such whilst we source a crew and then move onto casting within the next couple of months.

Metalhedz is coming along nicely, it feels great that after 3 years of working on it we've finally got it to a place where it is as close to ideal as it will get currently. The scripts have been constantly refined and we have a fantastic cast who are talented and funny. We had a cast read-through during the week which went so well, the new cast members getting along fantastically with everyone. It was just so great to hear the words being read aloud by the actors and hearing the characters start to come to life.

We'll be filming over June and July with aim to air the show in Autumn after an extensive advertising campaign. I'm a little scared as to how much money I'm going to (and already) put into this show and the costs of advertising it, but then I have a lot of confidence that it will be popular, especially after the latest re-writes and with the new characters.

And if that wasn't enough, I'm also planning a photoshoots and music video shoot for my friends band Black Jack to which the amazing Blu will be joining for. The video shoot should be fun, I'll admit I'm a little scared as to how it may turn out because the whole thing is a very artsy idea I had. It could look amazing....so long as I pull it off...surreal

Our crowd-fundraiser now has a nice little video pitch to go along with it!

And also I got a really nice message from Kyle Newman, director of the film Fanboys wishing me luck with the project

Which had me over the moon smile

You can check out the fundraising page here and Like the film's Facebook page here!
