01/22/07- Addendum.
Got back from Chicago late last night. Hung out with a whole slew of cool kids I haven't really met before while there. Gave thanks to SG Madison for providing the car to transport our asses.
Had good play time with my girlie to cap off the evening.
Woke up early this morning cursing my fate of having to go in to work.
Went to work nursing liver wounds.
Did boxing workout after work, dealt with cramp in my side.
Went home. Played drums to loosen up.
Relaxed now in front of the computer.
Proper update to follow sometime this week. Mainly looking forward to my four day weekend thats coming up.
Minor Update 01/17/07:
The new Skinny Puppy album drops at the end of the month. I'm definitely excited to hear about this. I'm a big fan of the last album- its become my "roads are fucked all to hell, driving through torrential rain and explosive lightning while watching cars crash into each other" music. That and they played probably the single best small venue show I've ever seen when I saw them play here in C-Bus during the Greater Wrong of The Right Tour. I got Ogre's blood poured all down my face just after the show so that it looked like I had massive head trauma. I promptly went outside and scared the bums and then wandered into the trendy club next door to see how many girls I could hit on in this crazy looking state. Strangely enough, alot of them liked it. (Note to frat boys...the tennis visor white shoes sort of thing is sooo outdated. You should just let me kick your ass and leave you bloody....chicks will dig you. I promise.)

So here's the initial pic of what will soon be tattooed on the top right portion of my chest

This is the design for what I'm expecting to be a great piece of ink . It's been quite a long time since I've had any new ink done, and I'm looking forward to it. I'll be sure to post pics as the tattoo progresses. I probably won't get it started until the end of February, but no big deal.
And speaking of things artistic, I should be having another gallery showing this April at Stained Skin. I know I'm excited about this- I couldn't even attend the last showing that my art was at, and there was something like a thousand people there. I was sort of bummed when I found out how many people went to the showing that I could have talked to. But regardless, I plan on having a good portion of work on display at the next show for all to see. I also plan on trying to finish up a 20"x30" colored pencil piece in time for the showing...however, colored pencils take forever. We'll see how that goes...I'd like to have some brand spankin' new work to display and amaze everyone with wonder and awe...(I'm an ass)
Other than that, I'm finally getting back on track with music. I've started composing some material that I'm very happy with, and I recorded a tidbit of something today that sounds like it could be a very promising start towards the sound I have envisioned. I think that once it is completed, it will work very well with another track that is already set to go. I have a very specific sound in mind, and a definite concept and arrangement I'm trying to follow in piecing together an EP. Hopefully, I'll have a solid album together by this September (You might consider this to be a lot of time to record and album, however, when you're engineering, playing, & producing, things can take a moment.)
Now....off to eat some tacos with the girlie.
Totally fuckin random....Ben Stiller doing the robot amongst a crowd of people during the Beastie Boys' live performance at Madison Sqaure Garden....
I'm laughin my ass off after seeing this....

Not a whole lot going on right now... I talked with Durb from Hellcity/Stained Skin yesterday about getting another tattoo done on my chest. I'm pretty excited about that. I think it's gonna look real nice when its done. It's been quite some time since I've last been inked. Too long, as a matter of fact.
I did some modeling for a tattoo shop about to open called Immortal Canvas and had pictures of my back taken. I think that was a pretty cool opportunity and can't wait until their shop opens and the website is up.
Other than that, I've just been biding my time working on getting my website design finished up and working on some music here and there. One of my goials for 06' was to have my website up and an EP completed. That never happened. However, I'm not really dissapointed- work on my house sort of took over any real progress I could have made on art or music. I don't like to just throw shit together, which means things generally take longer than planned.
Hopefully, I'll get my website launched in February, which will free me up to really focus on getting some music done, and finishing this colored pencil piece I started some time ago.
I'm looking forward to a few concerts already this year. Notably, Eric Clapton and Slayer (when did you ever think you'd see those two names in the same sentence?). Yeah that's right- I'll be seeing God and Satan perform before my every eyes this year. What can I say? I'm a fan of a wide variety of music....or at least music that doesn't suck balls.
Later.

So I started this year off with a bang...or at least a slightly fractured nose and dislocated shoulder. But whatever....no big deal. New Year's Eve I went out with the girlie Meow to see The Dwarves for what proved to be a violently great time. I kicked the evening off at the homestead with a concoction of margarita and mystery alchohol, which I assume to be rum (but I could be wrong). This fireracker of a drink lit a match under my ass and got me moving at a faster and faster pace for the rest of the night until I could do nothing but explode in a fury of drunken mayhem, much to other people's expense.
We got to the venue only to run into Madison, PunkNiteMike,Tallboy66, and a whole slew of my friends from here in town. It was great getting to see so many of my peeps in one place all with the same intention of having a good time and living it up. It also turned out to be a very cheap night for me, with the fact I was drinking cheap rum and PBR and grabbing several slices of the free pizza being provided. Nonetheless, by the time The Dwarves took the stage, I was stumbling, hyped up, and ready for a good show. Up to this point, my alcohol buzz had remained at an even keel of consistency, but then a switch flicked on inside of me, and the alcohol took over. Unfortunately, I remember very little of The Dwarves actually playing, and only have bits and pieces of memories involving flailing around in a mess of people, falling down several times, and during one especially violent fall, hitting the cement and dislocating my shoulder in one fell swoop. Sometime during this time period I received a sizeable punch to the face that caused a minor fracture. Despite the fact I had a broken nose, I had no idea any such thing had happened and left the show after they finished playing ready to go hit up the after party.
Now I've woken up several mornings feeling like I've gotten in a fight, but it normally only has to do with the liver and kidney pain caused by my love of fine spirits. New Year's Day I woke up feeling like I got in a fight and stumbled to the bathroom for my morning pee to discover my nose was a little swollen. "Hmm", I thought," that's unusual". I assumed I had taken a hard, random swing from someone's arm while making rounds in the pit during the show. Then I looked at my knuckles and saw teeth marks set in a nice, fat bruise across my left hand. So much for the random arm swinging theory. A phone call later that evening confirmed the fact that I had, indeed, been in something of an altercation. Not a whole lot of info given to me other than after I got knocked down the dude I was trading blows with got stomped on by another fine gentleman. I can only wonder....I do faintly recall some asshole mouthing off that was back and to my right and then thats it.
Another incident in my life, that, when I think back, only seems appropriate under the circumstances. When I think of seeing The Dwarves in concert, I can't imagine people standing around like a bunch of hippies going "Cool dude. Rock on! Listen to them jam!" It was every bit as much of a clusterfuck as I thought it would be.
Now off to the typical "This is what I'm gonna do This Year":
I've been so far removed from the internet world this past year its not funny. Not that I feel like I've missed a whole hell of a lot. Its not like the internet is gonna shrivel up and die because my lack of participation. However, I have been hard at work, and dedicated, to designing a new website for myself that will serve to showcase just what the fuck I can do. I get bored easily....I want people to pay me for what I like to do...not for sitting in the real life version of Office Space...then again...so does everyone else in the world. Its rare to meet that person that does their job specifcally because they absolutely hate it....Not that I hate my job....Its just I feel a need to do more with my life. I'm not satisfied with the "wife and two kids, a house, two car garage, and a steady, but unfulfilling job" model of life. So expect me to do my best this year to ensure that doesn't become me. Sometimes I wonder if I'm too ambitious, but then I realize that's probably a good thing.

Alright...its been a minute...matter of fact...its been a month since my last update.. I know I know...Good news is we're having a party this weekend at my house. Of course, there's all sorts of other shite I could blab on and on about. Alas, I have no heart to sit and type on the keyboard right now...been too busy installing a dishwasher, working on my website, working 10 hour days, and doing what ever else it is that I do on a daily basis. Hopefully, everything will be building like a tsunami for me during the course of the next few months while I finally work to get back on track with this art and music shit.
I'll be sure to post some updates.
Other than that, wish my girly Meow a happy motherfucking birthday dammit! It's her birthday in a couple of days.

Being sick is stupid.
I've had an eventful couple of weeks, most notably, going to Chicago last week to see the Stones. The show was good, however, I came back from my trip w/a hefty cough that's only gotten worse. I think I can attribute that to the fact that the weather there was shite and my friend had a pretty bad cold. Looks like I've got to tough it out. I did manage to get a fair amount of good crappy video footage to remember the show by. I also came back from the trip sporting a nice new winter-ready Guiness cap that I picked up down at the pier. So, all was not lost. I just hate being sick.
Aside from seeing the Stones I also saw Roger Waters 10 days prior to that in Indianapolis....traffic was nothing shy of a clusterfuck....I'd say almost the worst traffic experience I've ever dealt with for a show. The venue was out in the middle of fucking nowhere with the only entrance and exits being two lane highways. Fucking bullshit to say the least. However, I did manage to get a free VIP parking space that allowed us to make a quick getaway once the show was over. We managed to go to Applebee's and enjoy a fine steak for about an hour, leave, and then still run into some traffic jam nonsense. At least I got to sit comfortably in a restaraunt enjoying fine dining while other people where stuck in a crowded mess of a parking lot.
Among other concert news, I went with my girlie Meow to see KMFDM in Cleveland two days before I left for Chicago to see the Stones. I was happy that I finally got to see them after all these years. The only downside to this show is Meow realized she left the tickets at home after we had been on the road for a good 45 min. Too late to turn around. She paid for a whole new set of tickets....I guess she was a little bummed to say the least. On the upside, we recently just picked up free tickets for Trauma here in C-bus, so I guess it all works out.
So while I was in Chicago, my babydoll got pushed down while attending Hanzel Und Gretyl at Skully's and got her knee fucked up pretty bad. So bad that she couldn't walk for a few days and is still limping. That fact that she was pushed down by a mutual friend of ours for no reason and who also seems a little unremorseful pisses me off to say the least. I offered my services to take care of the situation, but I think my baby's got it squared away...however, I don't think relations will be the same between us and our friend for awhile. I did my best to take care of her and took her to Urgent Care as well as called off work the next day to help her out when she needed it. I love my girl to death and I hate to see her get hurt.
Switching up a little, I went to a custom framing shop today to get a picture of mine professionally framed as I hope to make good on a sale that Keith, the guitarist for Buckcherry, was interested in making. I'd have to say that previously this pic was not for sale as it is most definitely my favorite pic that I have ever done and certainly the most personal. However, I changed up my mind when I realized that selling the original to him could definitely be beneficial to my artistic future (It's hard to get your name out there). That and it wouldn't hurt to make a little spare cash. Besides, I can still make prints of the original and have several laying around. I hope to meet up with him when they play Columbus this Saturday. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Other than that, I'm hard at work getting a new website together that I'm anxious to complete. I hope to have the design finished by the end of this week. It's been way too long since I've had a serious website online and I feel like I'm missing out on alot of opportunities. I'll be sure to post the link when its complete.
Out.

Out.
OK so where to begin....
This month has found me in some interesting situations, most notably, Matt, the vocalist for Avenged Sevenfold driving me and their drummer in my truck back to their tour bus after some late-hour partying at a strip club. Yeah, so out of all the unexpected situations I've found myself involved in over the years, that definitely ranks up there. It was all good...however, the stripper following my truck back from the club didn't seem to fair so well. This girl is following us and we notice her swerving erratically in the rear-view. She got lit-up by the cops and pulled over. The tow truck was soon to follow...I'm sure it was jail-time for her.... Whatever, call me cruel, but better her than us. I was a little loaded after taking shots with the Reverend and the crew, and I suspect that Matt didn't have a license as he was concerned as to how I would deal with the situation if he got pulled over while driving my truck. Regardless, its not the first time I found myself partying with rock stars, but it was definitely an unusual twist to my evening. If only I could live the rock n' roll life on a more day-to-day basis...
Needless to say, working X-Fest a couple Sunday's ago was great. Everything went as smooth as it possibly could have gone, and I had some good bands on my stage. This is the first year I've had where I wasn't running around like a headless chicken trying to get things taken care of. This also left me time to hang out with some of the band members and give me stamina to make it throughout the day.
I was able to show a small sampling of my portfolio to the guitarist for Buckcherry and he dug the pics. He said he wanted to buy an original of this black & white pic I've done of this guy's head exploding, so I gave him a business card and he said he'd hit me up. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed on this one. Hopefully it will pan out in the end.
I managed to catch the Buckcherry show and stand onstage behind the drummer. Damn they put on a good show! I always like a band that knows how to rock it the fuck out. I will say that the drummer Xavier simply punishes his cymbals. They were all warped like a vinyl record left out in the sun too long. I've never seen anything like it. He told me that he just keeps trashing his cymbals and Sabian sends him newer ones. I guess they gave him grief over all the cymbals they keep shipping to him as part of his sponsership. I've cracked my fair share of cymbals, but damn, I've never warped them.
Other than that whole deal with X-fest, this month has found me breaking furniture accidently while boning with the girl (that was fun
), going to plenty of shows, spending probably too much $$$, and getting a promotion at work. I'll break it down like this....
1. Sex has been great and I find myself generally in a good mood.
2. I saw Tool last Monday and it was superb, I'm seeing them again tonight in Cleveland. Next month I'm going to Chicago to see Rolling Stones & I'm seeing KMFDM in Cleveland at the HOB.
3. I'm now going to be in charge of very large accounts at my job. I'm talking anywhere from 1,000 lines to 10,000 or more. I'm also the man to make em' pay up. (Gimme' my money bitch! I'm talking all $1.3 million of it!) I feel very priveleged to have this opportunity, as there are only 20 people with this job for the entire midwest area of the United States, which coincidentally, is one of our largest areas that we break down the country by. I'm in a temp position for 3 months, and then I'll be able to apply for the real deal afterwards. Wish me luck!
Thats it for right now. I'm sure I could write a book about these past few months if I felt like it....But I don't. I'm just gearing up to get back into the swing of things with my art and music this winter. I've been way too busy working on my house and such to really focus on the 2 things that mean the most to me (aside from my girly). I'm hoping thats gonna change...I hate getting sidetracked.
Adios.

Ah yes, a post to satisfy the needs of the masses (yeah right). Haven't been much into the blog scene as of late...too busy taking care of everthing a man's gots to take care of. Let's just say I'm busy preparing a setup so I can finally get underway with recording and then get focused again on my artwork. I've had some trials and tribulations with some gear over the past few months and it made me practically tear my hair out. Regardless, I hope to finally be recording albums by the end of the year...just in time for winter (which is perfect as far as I'm concerend. Nothing to do outside when everything's dead and cold anyways.)
Anyways, this is set to be my busiest month in what's turned out to be the busiest year I've ever had. Most of the reason this month is busy has to do with seeing various concerts. However, next weekend I'll be working the stage at X-Fest in D-town as usual. I don't know if I'm thrilled about getting to hang out with nationally known acts or not, but it always proves to be interesting (Not that its anything new to me by now.) This year I was smart and scheduled some vacation time the day after the festival so that the 15 hour day doesn't blend right into the next day with me sitting at my desk at work.
This weekend the girlie is going to Boston for the tattoo convention and to shoot a few sets, which I'm confident will turn out looking great. I know I'm a little jealous I couldn't go to hang out in Boston, but its no big deal. One of my best friend's birthday is next Monday, so we're gonna celebrate Saturday night in grand fashion...well...maybe not incredibly grand, but I know we'll be getting fucking trashed as all hell. So, yeah, grand in my own mind.
.
Since I don't particularly feel like blabbing on about other shit in my life, I suppose this is a good time to review some of the shows I've seen this year and are planning on seeing before the year is done with.

Until then,
