So next Saturday is the KROQ Weenie Roast http://kroq.cbslocal.com/kroq-weenie-roast-2013-lineup-and-details/. I have my two tickets and no one wants to go with me. This blows. I want to do stuff, but I really abhor going there by myself to the point where I just say forget it after getting tickets.
I am not selling the tickets; I go or I don't. I gotta start not being a lame ass.
On an unrelated note, I was having dinner with my former boss a couple of weeks ago because she was having thoughts of returning to my agency. Well we were eating at a Chinese place where my fortune cookie alluded to good company. She then texts me that maybe we should date each other. I told her it wasn't going to happen. She could be my boss again someday. She is also recently separated with two small children. Those are two things that are deal breakers on my end. I can't tell if she is just after some sex, trying to stick it to her husband, or is actually trying for a relationship. She doesn't get that just because I am single doesn't mean I am going to just go off with anyone without looking at the whole deal.
This will be my warm weather song of the day. I liked it before, but it seemed out of season when it came out in the fall/winter.

So here I am on Friday, and I return to work on Monday. What to do to fill the day?
Here is a brief rundown of the week so far...
1. Monday was movies and little league. I saw Mud with Matthew McConaughey. It was pretty good. I also saw To The Wonder with Ben Affleck; that one was horrible. It made no sense.
2. Tuesday I went and saw The Company You Keep with Robert Redford. It was okay. I did confirm my Anna Kendrick crush. Tuesday night I went to watch minor league hockey. The local team lost to Idaho, but it was fun because I went with my brother, who had never been to a hockey game before.
3. Wednesday was a long day. It was my birthday, but pretty much all of my friends forgot. I spoke to two of my oldest and best friends that day about other things, and neither remembered. I tried to hang out with just about everyone I know, but that didn't work out. So I went to an expensive Italian place for lunch by myself.
I went home for my "birthday cake" (Yes, those are single serving sizes)
I went to my office after driving around for a bit and bought a couple of tickets to see The Killers that night, since I didn't want to sit in the house on my birthday. A couple of friends from work were going to the show. Luckily, they were in need of an extra ticket, so I gave them the second one I had. I guess the show was good, at least that is what they told me.
(That blur is the band, trust me. I should be banned from cameras)
4. Thursday saw me going by myself to the beach where I used to live. I am over the whole "friends" thing for awhile. I am starting to see I am merely tolerated or taken for granted. It was fun to think back on the times when sand was the backyard.
I lived in the building on the left, this is the other side of the street...
I came back inland to watch an early screening of Iron Man 3. It wasn't great, but it wasn't awful. It just feels like they should have not made the movie because they are out of fresh ideas. The bit with Ben Kingsley (The Mandarin) is pretty funny though.
I made it through the day in less than 100 spoken words.
5. I don't know what is in store for today or the weekend. I do know it won't involve anyone else.

So the week off has begun, and plans I have none. I did get some tickets to see The Cold War Kids
and then The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club .
Those concerts aren't for a few weeks though.
What should I do to fill the next ten days?

Since I am home on sunny Saturday I may as well make a rare blog post.
1. So this week marks the conclusion of my battle with the post office over a book. I ordered the book from Amazon and it was delivered on March 8th according to the tracking system from USPS. I waited until the 16th to pick is up to give the post office some time to get it in my P.O. box. I go and there is nothing in there, so I ask to speak to a supervisor. He tells me he would have the clerk look into it and contact me within the week. So a week goes by and nothing happens. I return to the post office on the 23rd and ask to speak to a supervisor again. This time I get a little lady who goes on the attack and tells me I am wrong and I picked up the package. She brings some log out and says I picked it up on the 9th. Now I am now senile, so I am full aware of the fact I had not received the package. She just stood there and argued it with me and basically told me I was S.O.L. I then contacted the postmaster, since I know I am not wrong. They respond via email on the 28th to say the issue is being sent back to the post office. Last Tuesday the clerk who is responsible for the package called me to say the email I sent was the first she was hearing about it. This means both supervisors I spoke to did nothing about my issue, or she is lying and is just getting about to it. The supervisor with whom I had argued the week prior then calls to basically ask me am I sure I didn't get the package. Now given the fact I have already argued the point with her in person, why would I do it again over the phone? Wednesday she calls back, and guess what? She found my package. I picked it up after I left my office. Now why didn't the supervisor call me to apologize? I am debating whether or not to contact the post office to demand an apology, or to let it be. I hate that it took all of this for a book which cost me $14.38. It is all about principle and customer service.
2. Soundgarden has return to my musical consciousness lately. I don't know if their new stuff is good, or if it is me just wanting it to be when I listen to it.
3. I got my tickets to see Gary Clark Jr in August. He can kill it when he is in his blues groove. It should be fun. I get to stay at The Cosmopolitan Hotel again. It has been too long!

I put this on my FB page, but I had to share here...
Thoughts?
I really could do this on Valentines Day...

Thoughts?
I really could do this on Valentines Day...

So I guess this will a "Francis is not dead" blog post.
1. I feel myself getting fat again, so I have set myself on a course to see if I can lose 60 pounds in four month. I bet one of my employees that I can lose 60 by the time she can lose 40. It will be tough but it is doable.
2. I am in the early stages of trying to buy a small house. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will be alone, so I don't need anything extravagant, just something of my own.
3. I am certain i have done things that people would find fun since my last time on here, but nothing stands out. Last night I did go to a high school basketball showcase and they had the Laker Girls there for some reason.
Me with a camera is never a good thing.
4. The Lucha Vavoom Valentine's show is next week on the 14th, and my masochistic self got the best of me and bought tickets to the thing, even though I have no one to go with me. luchavavoom.com
5. Now I just have to figure out how to make friends of actual single ladies. For some reason the ones in relationships (married or committed) seem to take a liking to me.
6. This is the song that has been stuck in my head for the week...
Okay. I am done.

Here is a picture blog of my last weekend. No one went with me, which made the whole thing a rather joyless experience, so there isn't much to say about it. Sucks to be this kid.

My weekend companion...

Stopped here on the way after my friend who lived on the way flaked out on me

Got here eventually,,,

Went to the beach by Golden Gate Park

Made the required stop at the bridge
Went to Twin Peaks on accident

Haight and Ashbury for a bit

Lombard Street was a stop

Next I went here
Found my seats at the game

Gametime

The Buccaneers won

Went to Mavericks

Went to the surf museum in Santa Cruz

Watched a surf contest while in Santa Cruz

Went to Monterey and ran into John Steinbeck

Ate on Cannery Row

Paused in Carmel
I eventually came home. All that has me tired still. Yes, it looked like fun. Experiencing things solo isn't, so it wasn't.

Again, for myself amusement...
1. So today I went to beach for lunch since I am on vacation anyway...

2. Saw a bit of juxtaposition in the hood...

3. This is my weekend plan...I have an extra ticket for the game; room and car is paid for, so single ladies...HOLLA!!!
.

4. I am bummed baseball season is over, because that means my off-season workout program is in full effect. Basketball doesn't do it for me at all.
5. So could I get a date if I pulled up in this one?

6. This is my video of the week. The old guy at the end makes the video for me.
Someone need to fill this kid in on how to make real friends on here. Not complaining just saying.
That is all for now.

Since I have been staring at the screen all day, I have decided to write something else for my own amusement.
1. Went to see The Black Keys twice last week.
Friday in LA
2. I went out and got a date shake from Hadley's out at Cabazon...

3. This one gets me every time...
I am not for violence against women, but DAMN!
4. It looks like the trip to Oakland for football will suck as I had feared. No one wants to go. I guess I can stop planning stuff now and focus on other things. i would say that i am upset by the events, but it all feels inevitable now.
