Time sure flies. August 2007 was when my grandmother passed away and I was in MI. Hadn't been back there in at least 6 years previously, but probably was more like 10 years if I cared to look up dates of my mom's passing and my dad's remarriage.
Here's a picture from last year of me with my 4 sisters, and an assortment of nieces and nephews. The oldest niece has 3 kids herself, 2 not pictured here!

Time for a trip home soon, probably end of October.

Planning an evening at the Magic Castle very soon...interested?
*edit*
looking like 2 weeks advance notice, a midweek evening, no dinner requirements...of course, they always have their strict dresscode...I should be able to work it out that we do not have to all arrive at once...

I got the Escape back! they replaced the transmission, all under warranty. Only took them 3 weeks, the feckers.
If you're around Saturday, feel free to drop by my new house in Atwater Village. Still not nearly as far along as I had hoped, but some car repairs and such took the hardwood floor money. But, it's time to open the doors anyway an I also turn 40 on Wednesday, so two reasons for a party are enough excuse to get drunk with friends

The league's top team in the regular season has been even better in the playoffs. The Red Wings are 11-2 with nine straight wins, a franchise record for a single postseason. Their next victory will send them to the Stanley Cup finals for the fourth time in 11 seasons, and they're sure to be heavy favorites to win it all for the fourth time in 11 seasons.
and, the Piston's finished off the Magic last night pretty handily. It's a good time for Detroit sports!
Friday night, I played some online poker and was up $1k, only to continue to play while getting tired and blew it. That's one of my biggest weaknesses, not knowing when to walk away, or when to run.
On Saturday after working, I had friends over for dinner (morningstar, mrs_misha and JJ_R0x0rz). I made a roast/stew in the slow cooker, with tri-tip and spuds, parsnips, carrots, onion, red bell pepper and a can of Murphys Stout.
Sunday, I worked a bit more then went to Pasadena to pick up a stacked washer/dryer off Craigslist, perfect condition for $400. Also got some patio furniture and an outdoor bar, just need to add a grill and a firepit and the summer nights are on! I relaxed during sunset with a cigar (Fuente 858) and a bit of scotch (Dalmore) while listening to Frank SInatra, then went with a ladyfriend to see Ironman. It's just as good the second time around.
Not much change in the Stanley Cup beard, other than the Red Wings totally destroying the Avalanche, so something is working right. Pistons are also on the right foot as well. I don't really follow baseball, but the Tigers can only be going up, right?
