Whenever I go to the store and see a random man purchasing roses (or maybe a braver man purchasing tulips or lilies or anything else outside the rose family) I pretend that they are romantic and buying flowers for the woman they love for no reason at all. Not just her birthday, anniversary or valentines - but just because. I have never dated a guy that does this, I am not friends with any men that do this... but yet I still would love for it to happen.

sigh. I need to stop reading romance novels.

Ive been known to do this from time to time. When Im dating someone, I quite enjoy making my lover happy randomly. And the look they give when you hand them flowers is just priceless.

The more I think about it the more I realize that little small random acts like that have quite a lot of meaning and can really add up. Unfortunately many people are too busy and get tied up with other things to actually get a chance to think of doing something like that.

I am the flower buying guy type. I do the lillies or orchids. I buy them because she smiled at me that morning and it made me smile. I buy them because she had a tough day at work. I buy them because she lets out that wonderful sigh when I hug her and she sinks further into my arms.

Well, I used to at least.

I learned it from my dad. He and my mom still go on dates. He buys her flowers just because also.

Personally I've never done this because I've never seen the point in gifting someone dying plants.

i dont know why just presenting a girl with a gift for no other reason than you love her is such a foreign concept to men. bah.

I would totally do it, in fact I think about it a lot. Then I remember how often my girl rants about how she hates flowers. Says it's a waste of money and depressing as they whilt. I tell her she's missing the point, but alas...

You know there was a time in my life I would purchase flowers for my wife for no apparent reason, (besides the usual anniversary, birthday, ya-da). And since we both worked for the same Corporation for 30 years, people would kid me that I must be "in trouble" of some sort to just buy her flowers. I loved surprising her, even with random gifts.

But since retirement, I've only given her flowers probably on 4 ocassions, as compared to 5-6 times a year when still employed. That shouldn't stop me though, but I've failed this part of my husbandry since 2002. But she still expects nice gift items on the BD, Anni, Mother's day, ya-da! smile

Romance novels - yes I read them too, but the classics - anything Jane Austen! And each time I complete one of the novels, I often think what ever became to proper etiquette, mannerisms, and gentle people. I would have fit properly during the 1850 - 1890's.

One day you'll find your knight, trust me. smile

Good hearing from you. smile

I've done it but it's been a while. And don't stop reading romance novels. There's nothing more intriguing than the thought of a romantic FistFuck.

I once purchased a white flower (forget what type) for a friend at work because she'd been having a hard time lately. It wasn't intended as anything romantic, but I suppose it counts.

Recently I struck up conversation with one of the new someones at (a different) work who's pretty cute (resembles many on here :-p) and it seemed to go well. I went back to work after the break and then home. I'd never done it before, but for some reason I have the urge to make something like a mix tape for her bday (discussion revealed the impending date). We'll see how far That goes. IE: if I get the nerve or figure out what exactly to do. :-/
