I got fed up with the Gadsden flag and the asshole teabaggers who keep waving it around as if they were being tread upon. Last time I looked, the only person getting trod on was a MoveOn member getting attacked and trampled by a bunch of these crazy zealots. This country is so screwed. In honor of these creeps, I made them a new flag. I shall be wearing it as my profile image until after the elections are over (and even then I might roll it out special occasions):

I guess yellow is the logical background color for a poop flag. We don't have spoiled conservatives protesting social change here in BC. I suppose if we did it would piss me off. As I understand it the Tea Party supporters are mainly middle to upper class conservatives who oppose social programs for the poor and equality issues. Gays / Immigration / Human Rights. Ya, the more I think of it, it reminds me of this spoiled rich kid at school. He learned his politics from his parents..... and also his racism.....lol. So it goes.

It wasn't the people you are mad at that fucked this nation up.

You're missing the point stockula, it's not about who's screwed the country over (though we can have a long and healthy debate about that and there's plenty of blame to go around). I'm being critical of the thugs who've pushed and shoved their way into position, ready to take a crap on America with their terribly flawed and often bizarre ideologies. Despite their colorful slogans and spirited criticisms though, their energy is almost entirely shackled to a movement that is firmly wedged in the right-wing fringe. The irony is that their anti-establishment attitudes have been hijacked by the corporate establishment with many candidates firmly and openly stating their intent to maintain the status-quo, to any strip regulations that would require the enforcement of safety, equality and fair business standards.

In regards to their anti-tax position, they are just acting like spoiled brats. Sure, the country's current tax code has allowed enormous amounts of revenue to slip through the cracks of the upper-class while the middle-class has increasingly been forced to bear the burden (not to mention future generations who will have to live with the circumstances of a society that enables their politicians to engage in deficit spending while at the same time reducing tax revenues!). Should the government be more efficient and try to reduce spending on programs whenever possible? Yes, of course. But should the valve on funding most government programs just simply be cranked shut? Ironically, in terms of gross financial earnings, the tax burden in America is the lowest it's been since after the Great Depression. Unfortunately though, more and more Americans aren't seeing the net benefits of such profits, thought record earnings among the wealthiest have buoyed their worth, much of the labor that went into helping them net such wealth has not been quite as rewarding.

There is a myth among each class set that believes it is under siege from below (even those who are poor despise those less fortunate than themselves), that it is the teeming masses of lazy good-for-nothings who've jeopardized their chances at breaking free and enjoying the opportunity to prosper as they so deserve. Furthermore, the fear of joining a lower-class has also stoked their anger against it. Unfortunately, they're blaming the wrong people for placing them so close to the edge. Honestly which policies have eroded the ability of entrepreneurs and true "small businesses" from operating? How have most families benefited from a corporate dominated free-market? Are locally owned and operated stores and services undermined from below? Or is the truth that they're being crushed from above, from multi-nationals that have flooded and controlled markets with cheap goods and underwhelming service in order to maintain a system that maximizes profits with the goal of tightly cutting every expense (like paying their employees a livable wage).

Some tea partiers may actually have a right to be upset about the additional tax burden being placed upon them, however they are mistaken in railing against the system with the goal of eliminating all taxes. What they should be crying for is the heads of industry and the end of their lobbies' dominance in government. Buy no, they want to open the floodgates and allow a corrupt system to thrive and completely engulf and control the democracy, and this is why I say we are screwed. They are also mistaken in believing that it is their momentum and energy that will charge voters into supporting them instead of Democrats when the truth is that many are just disgusted with politics altogether and opt not to participate.

We shall see, the proof is in the pudding as they say, but I would be surprised if more than a quarter of people actually support them (even among likely voters). The sad thing is that they will win some House seats in some districts and maybe even some Senate seats, but I don't think it will have been due to overwhelming turnout, in fact, it will probably be quite the opposite. Alas, these Tea Party candidates are still Republicans, just with an even more extreme face.

Weird blog, okay. I came to say "defuse" in the nicest way I could figure. Great image, though, and a classic defense, at that. I recalled the special features on I am Curious: Yellow or was it Blue, describing the Swedish plan for passive resistance if invaded. They planned to educate the populace in fraternization, sabotage, and other methods to allow them to have no army but put up serious resistance. Also, the sea cucumber.
