Hey kids...

Been busy working on rewrites and polishes...About to go in and make the ol' pitch to our friends at the production office...The final draft is going in to be chopped up to estimate a possible figure for the budget...For now it's out of my hands...It's interesting to hear people interpret characters inner motivation and build little philosophies on what means what if this person does this or says that...I mean, I have a good idea where all these characters are coming from...I made the fuckers up...But it's actually fun to hear how people interpret things...Perhaps nothing will come of it...It's at least a hoot to discuss and quite inspiring for my next endeavor...

In other news I watched the Bob Dylan documentary "No Direction Home"...Two whole discs of sheer Bobby D-light...If you're a fan, check it out...I now think Bob Dylan might be the coolest M-F'er on the planet...One of my favorite songs has always been "Love Minus Zero / No Limit" but after seeing that movie, it may just be one of my all time favorites...Ya'll oughta' send that puppy to your Netflix queue...

LOVE MINUS ZERO / NO LIMIT

My love she speaks like silence,
Without ideals or violence,
She doesn't have to say she's faithful,
Yet she's true, like ice, like fire.
People carry roses,
Make promises by the hours,
My love she laughs like the flowers,
Valentines can't buy her.

In the dime stores and bus stations,
People talk of situations,
Read books, repeat quotations,
Draw conclusions on the wall.
Some speak of the future,
My love she speaks softly,
She knows there's no success like failure
And that failure's no success at all.

The cloak and dagger dangles,
Madams light the candles.
In ceremonies of the horsemen,
Even the pawn must hold a grudge.
Statues made of match sticks,
Crumble into one another,
My love winks, she does not bother,
She knows too much to argue or to judge.

The bridge at midnight trembles,
The country doctor rambles,
Bankers' nieces seek perfection,
Expecting all the gifts that wise men bring.
The wind howls like a hammer,
The night blows cold and rainy,
My love she's like some raven
At my window with a broken wing.

Apparently I've been "tagged"...This is all new to me, so I apologize in advance...But apparently this is what you're supposed to do in the event you find yourself having been "tagged"....

1. I am illegitamately related to Sir Walter Raleigh...I can't prove it, but my mom-mom can...

2. My first time ever in a plane was the very same day I jumped out of a plane. Only a tandom, but I have been skydiving...Would I again?...Perhaps, not likely, but perhaps.

3. The years of 1992-1996 were an incredibly important time in my life...Having just moved away from home for the first time ever, the friends I made in Virginia Beach were my new family away from home...The music on the radio during this time was stuff like Counting Crows, Gin Blossoms, The Cranberries, Hootie & The Blowfish, Blues Traveler, Juliana Hatfield, Liz Phair, Soul Asylum, Nirvana, Toad the Wet Sprocket, etc...You know the sound...Anyway, I have a certain nostalgic love for all this music...Sort of a musical soundtrack to my mental photo album.

4. Before I ever move away from Los Angeles, I have personally vowed to take the stage and do open mic stand up...I feel wholeheartedly that if I ever moved, having not, I would forever regret it...Not that that's what I aspire to be or anything...But I want to experience that frightful thrill of bombing, or being brilliantly insightful...

5. I have managed to get myself fired from nearly every job I've ever had...If I were to ponder this ridiculous cycle...I see it happens about every three years or so...I guess I just quit caring...I've never really had a job I loved for any reason beyond friends I may have made at the workplace...I don't know, maybe I get bored, but somehow I'll dread the notion of quitting and inadvertently sabatoge myself...I don't know....Some say school isn't for everyone...I don't think workin' for the man is for everyone either...I may have authority issues too...Do I need a shrink?

6. My intials are the same as my pop's...RAM...and when I was a kid, he used to draw these badass ram skulls with steam coming out of the nostrils, and red glowing eyes, with our intials underneath and use them as the logos for his racing team...I come from a long line of stock car ethusiasts...My grandfather, dad, and uncles raced all kinds of dirt track cars...stock car, modifieds, sprints, and go-carts...

7. I went to a christian school for grades 8-11th and won an award for preaching in a regional challenge...The sermon was one that I fully, devised researched, and delivered to a small congregation at the academic tournament and then to my entire baptist church congregation, the Sunday morning after...I am currently agnostic...

8. I've only broken one heart.

9. I love to seek out allegedly haunted grounds...Not really ghost hunting, but just sort of checking out the places and hearing the lore of what went down and when...I've been to the actual Amittyville house...The people that live there now get pissed when people come around...They had no problem with the ghosts, but they didn't count on the curious folk...

10. I once had sex in a movie theater...Matinee, mind you...It wasn't "Harry Potter" on opening night or anything...I still have yet to see "Air America" through it's entirety...

11. I've taken the Landmark Forum.

12. I find that I am a fall person...I certainly enjoy the change of seasons, but I enjoy that crispness in the air...The changing of the leaves' color....Especially in and around the Williamsburg area in Virginia...Winding roads, rivers, orange-brown-yellow-green leaves....For a drive through these parts you might treat yourself to a little Bruce Hornsby...

13. This has taken me 45 mins so far to do this shit...

14. I think Radiohead is the most overated band in the world...And I change the station 100% of the time when I hear a Depeche Mode song...

15. I have no known allergies, and I can't stand the taste of beets...That's why I just don't even eat 'em...

16. One of the best nights I've ever had was going for a little joyride through the Hollywood hills with my good friend Matt, then just taking off to San Francisco to have breakfast on the Golden Gate bridge at 6am...Then while he napped at around 11am, I sat in a bar on Haight and polished off a few pints while the bartender and I took turns playing each other our favorite Tom Waits songs on the jukebox...

17. I would like to one day write a Muppet movie...

18. Sometimes I want to beat the shit out of people that I see do really stupid stuff when they're driving and talking on a cell phone...And if someone injurs another person because of an accident brought on by inattentiveness, there should be severe penalties, up to an including death...And the weird thing is I'm being competely serious on this one...There's just no fuckin' sense in it...None.

19. 19 is how old I was when I moved away from home and began paying my own way in the world.

20. I have fulfilled my obligations of having been "tagged"...

Okay, so there you have it...I feel like there's something I'm missing, I'm sure I'll hear about it soon enough....

Don't step in shit,

Hah-Ha!...At last...I am finito...done...I washeth mine hands...I have submitted to the den of Kinko's where they hath duplicated my efforts three fold...My 3rd and final draft of the destined to be dubbed "cult classic" Above Average Joes...

After correcting typos, implementing various suggestions, heighting the conflict, and eliminating a whopping 17 pages (bringing it to 117) of boosheeto I now have the finished product to bring to my meeting Nov. 7th...

Dear God in heaven above...If ever there was a time...

Well I have a small production company that's in love with Above Average Joes...I have 10 days to tighten the script up...Not another draft, but a polish...Then we take it back in and disect it to get an idea of what the budget be estimated at...Scene by scene they'll decide what's actually real and what'll be green-screened...This small production company can do 100% of the post production to help eliviate costs...So after we've decided how much the budget would be, we'll take it to another company which is, I believe a sister company for New Line, but I'm not sure...Anyway, I'm still pesimisticly optimistic about the whole thing, but I did officially get a pitch...We go in sometime in November with the whole blue print...If it's a go, then we'd probably (hopefully) start off to Canada in the spring...I guess we'll see what we'll see...

Well today was writer's group...My script was in the hot seat (meaning last we assembled the assignment was to read my script and return with notes, criticism, etc.) And well...It even went better than expected...Just a few questions that need to be answered or are unclear..."loose ends" if you will (If you won't - that's okay too)...My advisor (who was a staff writer for Deep Space 9) seems to think this draft could be the one...He suggested a "polish" as opposed to a full on "next draft"...Which is really exciting actually because then I'm going to get it into circulation...Apparently there is a copy of it on the loose out there...Someone from the group took it to work and it's already made it to two production companies (which honestly, I have mixed feelings about) and some animator friend of a friend...So numero uno on Monday's agenda is to get to the Writer's Guild and get that puppy registered...Then I'd feel more comfortable with it begining to move around from one place to another...I don't know, it's all kinda' new to me, but keep your fingers crossed...

Boy is it a ragedy, gray ass day today...I shuffled through Hollywood shuffling the Stones on the ole' ipod as I embarked on a quest for coffee and perhaps check and see if the new "New Avengers" was out yet...I don't know what the hell happened but lately I've gone off the deep end just absorbing comics...I mean I used to collect in high school but got really pissed at the whole business when all those ridiculous crossovers just kept coming out, raking us broke ass young 'uns over the coals to keep up...I was always proud of my Spiderman #129...Not a very crispy copy, but it was worth a few bucks at the time...Matter of fact I sold my whole friggin' collection to help move my monkey ass out to California...And it wasn't until a few months ago, but a buddy (my comic guru) Adam keeps turning me onto the coolest stuff...I guess I had always been in it for the art...But I've been writing a superhero story so I've really gotten into more of the writing aspect...It's WAY edgier than back in the day...Man oh man...Wonder Woman broke this dudes neck...On purpose!!! But now, with my guru's sage guidance, I've discovered a lot of great stories...I'd have to say The New Avengers and The Authority are by far my favorites right now...The new Ghost Rider is pretty right on too...The artist for that is operating on a whole other level...

Anyway, enough of that...Lemme share what I had shufflin' around today because it sure hit the spot...

01. Sway
02. Jig-Saw Puzzle
03. Dead Flowers
04. Sweet Virginia
05. The Spider & The Fly
06. Far Away Eyes

08. Stray Cat Blues
09. Tumblin' Dice
10. Saint of Me
11. Moonlight Mile

Naturally you'll want to go out and buy the albums, but there's my personal top picks...

A little faded, but I wouldn't say stoned,

So cool news in the land of the aspiring screenwriter...Someone outside my immediate realm of ever-encouraging friends read my script "Above Average Joes" and flipped over it...Apparently, she works in some small production office here in LA and although isn't quite "the right hands", she does have several "connections" who's hands might be just the hands I want to be shakin'...One of which is actually an assistant to Sam Raimi...Which is uber cool on account one of the lead characters was written specifically for Bruce Campbell (actually I could give a rats arse, but Bruce was in fact the lad I envisioned for the role)...Now if I had a dime for every time I heard someone praddle on about who they know, what they can/want/will do, or what is and isn't great...Well that'd be an ass-wagon full of dimes wouldn't it...So needless to say, I'm not holding my breath or getting my hopes up for anything...I think ultimately it was just a thrill to have an outside opinion emphatically discuss my work...So, we'll just see what we see...

In other news I secured my ticket to the LA leg of the SG tour...Looking forward to that...I was in the thick of it last year when they rolled into town and took the stage at the Echo..."simply de-light-ful"...I still have to figure out how to fully use this sight and track down the line up...Maybe I'll take a crack at that before I sign off...

I guess that's it for now...I pulled a double shift today...Never my favorite thing, but gotta' TCB...I think I'm gonna' go score me a sandwhich, go on home, watch a little tellie and pick up the ole' geetar...

So as the sun sets slowly in the west, I bid you a fine farewell...

'Night,

I had the sheer enjoyment of seeing the Black Crowes last night at the Henry Fonda (one of my favorite LA venues)...I had orginally intended to go with someone and it didn't quite pan out the way I had envisioned...I tried a few of my friends, but everybody had something going on...It looked as if I was going to eat a ticket...I even had the notion of not even going myself...Thought I might just go out there and sell the pair for whatever cash I could recoupe...I mean, we're talkin' like $100 here...But when I arrived I figured hey, if I can sell them, great, if not, my worse case scenario is I'm goin' in and I'm gonna' see the motha' fuckin' Black Crowes...Lemme' tell you...It was great...I had never seen them before so I was open to whatever...Turns out they were shooting a DVD and played for whole three hours...at least...I'd call that my money's worth...The stage was dimly lit...A dozen of fake candles...The energy was just what the doctor ordered...They even played my persnal favorite "Thorn In My Pride"...If you want a pleasant change up from "She Talks to Angels" go ahead and download that little number..."Girl From a Pawnshop" is another lesser known that's really right on too...

Matter of fact, below are a dozen or so Black Crowes songs personally selected by myself...Treat yourself to a little mix...You may even be surprised to discover your more of a fan than you thought...

01. Jealous Again
02. Blackberry
03. Girl From a Pawnshop
04. Nonfiction
05. Then She Said My Name
06. Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye
07. Thorn In My Pride
08. Twice As Hard
09. Nebekanezer
10. She Gave Good Sunflower
11. How Much For Your Wings
12. She Talks To Angels

Enjoy...
