So, if you could vacation anywhere, where would you go?

- Me, Spain. Love the architecture, food, and wine. Speak a little of the language. And it's several political, linguistic, and geographical countries, all in the same country, what fun!! love

- Second choice would be island hopping on a sailboat, just about anyplace warm... ARRR!!!

- Unfortunately, the closest I'm going to get anytime soon, is a weekend in Gloucester (schooner ride though...)! smile

yeah the skies have opened! smile I guess I'll see if I follow up with it!

Sailing, yes, yes, yes! And Spain, my sister has been wanting to do a tour of the civil war sites there. She did a big project in university where she interviewed some veterans.

Oh and she and I have always fantasized about doing a rollercoaster tour of North America! biggrin kiss

Is it the Gs or the fact that you're not in control? robot

Well I would go to Ireland. I think it would be beautiful and this may sound silly but Brigadoon was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I always wanted to go to Ireland.
And I will hop on the boat with you and go somewhere warm too! But don't forget the Dramamine! wink

Hmmm, well, given my complete inability to relax and enjoy myself lately, I think that I'd have to opt for a "working" vacation somewhere. I am thinking a 2 week hump through the Rockies or maybe hand digging the foundation for my log cabin...

I am a very, very sick man.

Italy. For many of the same reasons you like Spain. A nice little rental up in the hills on the Ligurian coast or on Lago di Como sounds like just what I need.

Sailing sounds great, but I am clueless if I can't paddle the boat.

Basically, anyplace warm and sunny where the living is slow and easy sounds about right. biggrin

Iceland is an amazing country...don't let the name fool you! It's got an incredible landscape, culture, people and energy. I have friends who've visited there and almost didn't come back. Obviously, the winters are fairly harsh, but the spring and summer are totally incredible from what I've heard and read. The word "magical" is often used to describe it. I'm very intrigued...

Cool...I'm very curious about Tokyo and Hong Kong after some of the films I've seen recently.

I just can't decide where to go first! confused

Check out this site if you want a pilot job.
www.jsfirm.com
Submit your qualifications and your resume and they'll send you info daily if you wish. That's who got me the job in Iraq last year where I made a ton O money.
If you're over qualified, you shouldn't have any problems finding something good. Good luck!

Sorry I didn't give you an official invite to the aviation group. I swear I thought about you when it was finally approved, I just couldn't think of your screen name to save my life! So I feel the need to extend to you an officail " My bad. Dog."

I just grabbed those pics of the PBY off the net. If I remember correctly that particular one was for sale and it was off of a classified ad of sorts. I've had a pipe dream for years of operating one of those out of some place like Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. You know, like scuba charters all over the Carribean, that kind of thing. I don't know what kind of restrictions you would have as far as decompression and cruise altitudes or that kind of stuff. Its more of a romantic notion of mine than anything else. I guess my lack of capital has prevented me from looking into more than anything else. But I definitely feel you as far as catching a ride in one of them or a B-17. I was ecstatic just to see an actual B-17 in flight last year. I had seen one once before, however it wasn't airworthy. But just to be there when that gorgeous girl fired up those four magnificent radial engines..... man I tell you. It just gave me goosebumps. I was magically transported back in time to the eighth Air Force in England. I caught it on video and as soon as I got home I slapped the tape in the vcr and cranked up the volume. NOTHING beats the sound of a radial engine. Sexiest thing in the world I swear! You could pay five bucks and go aboard it and when I went I went with a guy who was a ball turret gunner on one of them. I was just in awe. The stories he told me.

Anyways... sorry for the book I left you. I'm just glad you found our group. Tell anybody else you know about it. It will be a small group, but it will be filled with the coolest people here damnit! wink

The jobs on jsfirm are aviation ones, not just Iraq aviation ones. The job I took was in Iraq, bit it said it was. There are jobs everywhere. They will usually hire you if you have the expertise and you can get more experience at work. I'm doing my inprocessing in Houston rt now for my new Iraq job.
